I'd love some advice.

The best I've done is take Gateshead from conference league 2 to league 1 below the championship with no money. Since that I've never done well since

I can never do well with Newcastle.

If you are struggling with tactics, read TT and F. It was made for FM10 but it's all in there to get you started. If you are struggling with signings there is a handy thread on this site called who should I buy/ sell.
