I would give an arm and a leg to see 11 of Europe's best players take on 11 of South America's best players . I think it would be an amazing spectacle. What dose the FM-Base think?

i would give 2 arms and 2 legs to see that

South America would win

South America wins...we got Messi (H)

Messi is the biggest threat, that's for sure.
but we have Nigel De Jong, his 'fancy footwork' worked against Xavi Alonso during the word cup :P.

Personally i think it would finish 3-2 in favor of the S.American XI

The S.Americans have far too many players capable of producing magic moments. But it would be one **** of a match. Our spanish players would probably end up being the goal scorers.

The midfield in the European team...dynamite!: Xavi, Iniesta, Gerrard, Xabi Alonso, Özil, Schweinsteiger, Sneijder, Gourcuff, De Rossi.....I think that in this position, the europeans have the advantage.

Lampard, C. Ronaldo also

I think We (Europe) have the better goal keepers. When you look at the likes of Víctor Valdés, Petr Cech, Iker Casillas, Pepe Reina, Gianluigi Buffon, Shay Given, Hugo Lloris, ect. The list could go on for ages.

What would be the first eleven in those teams?

I think that South America IX would go this way:

GK- Julio Cesar

DF- Lucio
DF- Diego Lugano
DF- Dani Alves
DF- Juan Manuel Vargas

MF- Banega
MF- Vidal
MF- Messi
MF- Di Maria

ST- Tevez
ST- Forlan

And in the bench, a lot of Brazilians, Argentinians and Uruguayans XD....too bad Venezuela don't have elite players, but I still have hopes in Solomon Rondón

I would field the European XI as follows (Im not expecting everyone to agree with me)

GK: Gianluigi Buffon

RB: Philipp Lahm
CB: Carles Puyol
CB: Per Mertesacker
LB: Ashley Cole

RM: Christiano Ronaldo
CM: Mesut Ozil
ACM: Steven Gerrard
CM: Xavi
LM: Franck Ribéry

ST: Fernando Torres

This is who id put

GK - Iker Casillas

RB - Philipp Lahm
LB - Ashley Cole
CB - John Terry
CB - Carles Puyol

CM - Frank Lampard
CM - Xabi Alonso/Xavi
RAM - Cristiano Ronaldo
LAM - Arjen Robben

ST - Wayne Rooney ( :S )
ST - Edin Dzeko

European XI:
GK- Iker Casillas
RB- Sergio Ramos
CB- Vidic
CB- Chiellini
LB- Evra
CM- Xabi Alonso
CM- Xavi
RW- Cristiano Ronaldo
LW- Robben(if he's fit :P)
CAM- Sneijder
ST- Rooney

South American XI:
GK- Julio Cesar
RB- Maicon
CB- Lucio
CB- Thiago Silva
LB- Juan Manuel Vargas
DM- Mascherano
CM- Cambiasso
RW- Midget :P
CAM- Kaka
LW/ST- Nelson Valdez
ST- Diego Forlan

I think its realy hard to chose both teams, except 2 ou 3 indispensable players in each 11

After reading the whole thread, nobody mentioned Messi.

U must have poor eyesight:

Epic fail :)

EU-
GK- Edwin van der Sar (yes he is old, but i think he is still better then the other keepers in my eyes)
DR- Sergio Ramos
DC- Vidic (slow yes, one of the best headers of a ball in the world, yes)
DC- Giorgio Chiellini
DL- Ashley Cole (Quick, goes forward and can deliver a great cross)

MC- Fabregas
MC- Xavi
MC- Inesta

MR- Ronaldo - (quick, tall and skillfull)

ML- Bale - (with recent proformances I would back him against any deffender in the world)

STR- Drogba (With the lack of cross's coming in the box, a tall Str would be pointless, because ronaldo and bale wont really get the ball in the box. However i would back drogba against any goalkeeper, and ofc even with the lack of balls into box, if they do come i would put my house on him scoring)
