In-game data editor

When i try to run the data editor i keep getting the message "Game is currently unavailable"
It's run for me once before but not since then, Do i need to have the game running to use it???
Can anybody help please??

You're talking about FMRTE or iFMRTE, right? If so, you need to have it open in order to edit it. Of course, make sure you have FM in windowed mode so you can switch between the two programs.

No mate, i mean the FM data editor on steam. Sorry should have said.
