Haven't seen it yet. Despite the good things I've heard I think it looks like a poor remake of The Matrix. Can anyone confirm or deny this for me?
I think the films are completely different and if you go to see it you need to go in with an open mind and not think of it as like The Matrix.
You also need to concentrate as it is very easy to lose the plot of the film.
The ending was brilliant, such a cliffhanger.
Hmm, fair enough. Might go see it tomorrow then, it's been a while since I've been to the Cinema.
Amazing movie. I'd prefer a movie like Inception over 90% of today's mindless action movies. Originality is lost in the art of film making these days and Inception is like a rare gem amongst garbage. Nolan has to be among the best working director of our time. The only people I know who claim to hate Inception are those that have zero idea what it's about in the first place, and most of them think Transformers 2 was "OMGZZZ! TEH BEST MOVIE EVER."
I know tastes differ from person to person, in movies and other things. I'm just saying that if you follow the plot closely from start to finish, I'm sure you'll find it quite enjoyably at the very least.Well then, I have hope. I despised Transformers 2.
Would like to know what everyone's opinion on the ending is; [Possible spoliers]
As we know there are two main theories as to what the ending meant. That he was in fact still in his sub conscious mind, or if he in fact was in his "reality". There are several points that support both theories. I thought it was interesting that he Cobb [Di Caprio] began as a man obsessed with knowing what is real, via the totem, to stop questioning what is real, and accepting his "reality".
It does appear that Cobb and Saito [The employer of the Inception task] wake up from their Limbo state. However this is open to question. One thing to question is that are they in limbo, and on the plane it is all a projection of Cobb's mind? Or is the job in fact completed and they are all back in "reality".
One question I ask is that, 'Is Saito really powerful enough to remove Cobb's chase, he is a powerful man, so it could be possible. But it is something to question, as it could be a projection of Cobb's limbo state and his wish to go home. Definately something to consider.
Another thing is, that the fact that Cobb's father was at the airport a projection, as he wanted to see his family? Or was it just a normal collection, he well could have arranged it.
Something that keeps me thinking is that his kids are wearing similar, if not the same clothes, when he returns to "reality"[if he did return] as when he was dreaming, this could well prove he is still in limbo. Having looked at a review and IMDB it does credit two different actors, for both children, for their different ages. This would confirm that Cobb's return to "reality" is in fact true, as the children have grown up.
At the end he spins his [Or was it Mal's] totem and walks away from it, showing that he may not care if he is in limbo, or in "reality" which he was once obsessed with. Will it fall? He doesn't care about Extraction anymore.
Great film, 9/10 for me.
