I know the new match engine sounds fun, but - honestly - I really really like FM24's engine. Like, really like. I think it's the best ever (maybe FM17 was better, but not by much) and I can't help but think FM25's complete re-desogn will take loads of patches before it starts working as they want it to. And honestly, like I said: I think 24's is brilliant; loads of different types of goals, build up play...I can't help but tihnk 25's going to be a step backwards before it goes forward, you know?

I'm looking forward to new FM but realistically speaking, I'll have zero expectation.
It's virtually a whole new game.

The community discussion on Reddit’s r/footballmanagergames mentions that FM brought significant improvements to the match engine every few years, including reduced floating balls and more realistic player movements. This implies that major updates to the match engine occur every 2-3 years. Not every year... The match engine used now came out with FM 21
