I did the same thing with FM 2021. I followed the sport from afar and had played FIFA but I didn't really know the ins and outs. When the sale of Wrexham went through I became obsessed with the idea of playing FM and taking Wrexham to the Prem and bought it during the summer sale. I started with Wrexham and just let the AI handle everything at first except the tactic and the gameday squad. Second season I got into scouting and handling transfers myself, 3rd season I started messing with training and learning about the structure of European football and how to qualify https://9apps.ooo/, etc.. As I uncovered things I didn't understand I'd just find a YouTube video on it. Over 1500 hours played of FM since, now I'm all-in on football and I know more about it than my friends that have been into it for years.
