Issue with screen/ mouse position

Anyone help me with this issue, have had this issue a couple of times most of the times it has had resolved itself by resetting and closing steam down. Attached you will find an image that demonstrates it basically the top of the screen has shifted down and the mouse isn't calibrated to the picture if that makes sense. If i try to click on the quit "Yes" icon. I have to click 1 to 2 inches above. Any tips on how to fix this as my usual methods aren't working.

Ok well an actual restart of my Mac has sorted the issue the out but I am still interested in how to fix this on a more permeant basis.
