Issues with play 1 forward

i like to think i can make a good tactic where i win/draw more then i lose but i have a real issue with playing tactics such as 451 and 433 simply because i havnt been able to make them create enough chances, tried telling all my crossers to send balls to center which is typically where my forward is even the through balls dont connect that well, im man city so i have world class players all over, when i play a 442 or 41212 formation if 1 forward misses it the other typically keeps the ball or a midfielder gets the ball,

to ask a simple question why cant i produce a good 1 forward tactic

a 4-5-1 is generally the best one striker tactic. make sure you have a flat 4 and then a flat 5 and then one. Should work really well with Man City.
