JAIME LOZANO'S TACTICS ON FOOTBALL MANAGER 2024
To replicate Jaime Lozano's 4-3-3 formation in Football Manager 2024, we'll start with the basic 4-3-3, which includes four defenders, one defensive midfielder, two central midfielders, two wingers, and one center forward.
Formation: 4-3-3 Mentality: Positive, to impose your style on the opponent and control possession.
1. Team Instructions
In Possession
When in possession, Lozano's team is instructed to maintain ball control by building from the back. The goalkeeper, two central defenders, and the defensive midfielder are involved in the build-up, with the midfielder dropping back to form a back three. This allows the two full-backs to push high and wide. Once the team breaks through the opponent's first line of press, the goal is to quickly move the ball into the opposition half, looking for vertical passes and then showing patience to get into the box.
Transition
Once the ball is lost, Lozano's players are asked to press high to win the ball back as quickly as possible and then launch a fast counter-attack. The goalkeeper helps in the build-up by passing the ball short to the central defenders.
The team presses high to win the ball back as quickly as possible. However, if the high press doesn't work, the team will drop back into a medium block.
The defensive line is high and stays close to the midfielders to minimize space between the lines and make the team more compact. The pressing is very intense, and the goal is to force opponents to play out wide, away from the central areas.

- Play Out of Defense: Start the build-up from the back.
- Attacking Width: Wide. Lozano wants to use the entire field to stretch the opponent's defense, creating space for his players to make central runs.
- Passing Directness: Short. The aim is to maintain possession while looking for opportunities to play vertically.
- Tempo: High. Transitions from defense to attack should be fast, getting the ball into the opponent's half quickly.
- Overlap Left & Right: The full-backs in Lozano's system should overlap on the flanks and support the attack.
- Pass Into Space: To attempt vertical passes and find better-positioned teammates.
- Low Crosses: To take advantage of runs from behind and cutbacks.
- Work Ball Into Box: Play the ball with patience to find the right opportunity.

- Goalkeeper: Sweeper Keeper - Defend. No special instructions.
- Full-backs: Wing-Back - Attack. Instructions: Stay Wider, Tackle Harder.
- Center-backs: Ball Playing Defender - Defend. Instructions: Stay Wider. The two center-backs are asked to spread out to the sides of the goalkeeper during the build-up, leaving space for the goalkeeper to move up and for the defensive midfielder to drop back.
- Defensive Midfielder: Deep-Lying Playmaker - Defend. This is the only role in Football Manager 2024 that allows the defensive midfielder to drop between the two center-backs to form a back three during the build-up.
- Central Midfielders: Box-to-Box Midfielder - Support (Instructions: Get Further Forward, Move Into Channels) and Central Midfielder - Attack (Instructions: Move Into Channels). The attacking central midfielder is more offensive and often makes runs into the box like an attacking midfielder. In Lozano's Pachuca team, Elias Montiel plays this role.
- Wingers: Winger - Attack. Instructions: Stay Wider, Roam From Position, Tackle Harder.
- Striker: Advanced Forward - Attack.
- Copa América: Third Place
