Rodgers departs Liverpool

Brendan Rodgers has left Liverpool Football Club, BBC Sport can confirm. The manager led the team to a 5th place finish this season, but it wasn't enough for the owners who demanded no less than 4th in a last chance saloon for the Northern Irishman. Despite taking the Reds to the Capital One Cup Final, their 4-0 thrashing by Arsenal has not gone forgotten. Moreover, an embarrassing 1-0 to defeat at the hands of Bolton in the FA Cup gave all the more reason to depart with Rodgers. The final straw for the manager was three successive defeats in the final games of the Premier League, losing 3-1 to Aston Villa and Stoke before ending the campaign with an abysmal 4-1 loss at Anfield to Watford. There is no indication on who will be next to take the helm at Anfield.

A Talk with the Owner

After an encouraging meeting with John W. Henry, I have been given full freedom with transfers and a budget of aruond £30,000,000. I have also been given minimum expectations which are as follows:

  • F.A Cup: Semi Final
  • Capital One Cup: N/A
  • Europa League: Final
