Never had this problem. If you interact with the screen, does the number update and show the actual number of players you've selected to register? For instance, click on a player and set him as "In", or select one of the players who is "In" and change it to "Out". Also, try the Auto Select, Undo Changes, and Clear Selection buttons in the bottom right.
