I don't think this is a bug. You aren't the only high profile manager in the game. Maybe Manchester United just don't see you as the right person for the job (perhaps due to your tactical preference). Who got the job instead of you? I would only see this as a problem if they hired someone with no experience instead of you or they 'laughed off' your interest.
