Hi, I've just got promoted as Basingstoke into League 2, and when it came to the John Paint Trophy, I somehow got a bye (very pleased about that!). How come I got a bye even though I'm the worst team in the league?

Has nothing to do with reputation, it's due to an uneven number of teams.

i got a bye with AFC Telford and managed to win it that year, so maybe its an omen

Hopefully it is, however in the league cup 2nd round I got Nottingham Forest (Now a premiership team) away; maybe it's karma
