Jonathan Wilson: Premier League title far from a formality for early leader Chelsea

well considering he has been vital to almost all approach play, and effective performs two roles at th esame time, dimi everyday

Well thats ok i expect you to back your own player its normal, but i have always believed and i still do that Berba is not good enough for Utd.

Lets be absolutely honest here, Berba has been better this season but really how much better?? He blows hot and cold and i would easily drop him for VDV without a dout.

He is consistent this season. You just cant see stats to prove that. Berbatov_Hernandez combination is nothing short of excellent. We never play with attacking midfielder, we had Scholes all these years who was CM but was excellent in getting forward.

To be honest, Arsenal should be finishing 1st considering all the red cards and penalties going for them, especially if they keep getting them.
I don't know if this is a dig, but just for the record, I think only one of those pens we've been awarded we maybe didn't deserve and pretty much all the reds have been justified. To be honest, we were pretty unlucky not to have beaten you at home, I don't think Chelsea should be confident at all.

I have 2 points, i dont understand why you feel you should have beaten us and why are people saying we shouldn't be confident??

On the Hernandez thing i said he might struggle only because he had only 1 proper scoring season before joining Utd and i must have had some faith in him to put him in my Dream Team. I don't understand why you don't think i should be confident we are the current champions and i think we haven't seen the best from us yet.

Because we are only 1/4 into the season, and your speaking as if it is in the bag, this is the worst united are going to play all year. 5 points is actually nothing.

We had 7 players sent off against us (about 5 of them vs Alonso) which is more than 1/5. I've heard this banded around this forum quite a lot, but it dosen't take away how **** good we played for nigh all the season. We got 96 points, the most any team has had and not won the league. We done the double on United and Chelsea, most of those matches without Gerrard and/or Torres. Luck had very little to do with it.

Anyway, that's off my chest...Back to the topic on hand...<)

My bad, got a bit muddled up XD

8 Players have been sent off playing against Liverpool. Of these 8 games, Liverpool won 7 Matches and drew 1 (playing away). Liverpool have played 33 games this season and almost a aquarter of the time it was against 10 men.

Not saying you don't deserve them (pretty sure some of those pens have been from dives though - one definitely from Chamakh) - but you should be winning the league (or at least finish 2nd) when getting lots of these decisions.

Im not saying we have won it at all but we are easily the favourates and so far i see no reason why we won't win the league. 5 points at any time in the season is a good lead and we now have to momentum and expirience to keep on going.

You said you where confident, i dont see how you can be anything more then hopeful.

I have every reason to be confident, like i said we are the current Champions and we have carried on our form from last season and got results we didn't get last season so of corse i have every right to be confident.

so you expect to get every result you got last season? Well i guarentee you wont do the double over us and arsenal again. You confidence is foolish, but as expected.

Virtually every season, every club has a dip in form. (prob arsenal apart when they went unbeaten) Utd have had theirs, and are notorious for finding form after xmas, whereas chelsea have yet to faulter. 5 points isn't such a big difference

CJACKO, have you ever heard the saying "Peaking too early"?

I don't understand what you mean by "getting decisions" usually people only use that term when a team is getting decision which are dubious or undeserved, which isn't the case for us, except on the Chamakh occasion.

And to the other Chelsea fan, we pretty much bossed the game against you, other than the 2 goals (one of which was a freekick) the only Chelsea chance of note was the Anelka one. Not saying we totally deserved to win but it was a tight affair. Which leads to my other point, Chelsea clearly aren't that good. By "that good" I mean good enough for you to be confident that you're going to win the league. They're good but I wouldn't say they're on a completely different level to those such as Arsenal, Man City & Manchester. To be honest if Torres is on form I doubt you could beat Liverpool that easily.

Of course Chelsea should be confident of winning the league. They are the current holders, and have already opened up a 5 point gap.

However that's not to say that they will. If one of the big teams get a good run of form then they will challenge for the title, but I think it'll be Chelsea's year this year. They seem to have found a way of winning nearly all games against lower opposition where other big sides drop points occasionally.

No but if we got results we didn't last season that tells me we have improved and how can you guarrentee we won't do the double over Utd and Arsenal again, and your slating me for being confident!!!

We haven't peaked too early we have carried on from last season.

Typical Arsenal fan, just because you have most of the ball dosen't mean you deserve anything from the game. Chelsea let Arsenal have the ball and you could see that because we kept hitting you on the break. You can almost guarrentee that in 95% of Arsenals games in a season that you will have most of the possession because thats how you play your game so your argument dosen't work.

And how the **** you can say Chelsea aren't that good lol, none of the top 4-5 beat each other that easily its always tight affairs but starting 11 we have the best team without a dout and this is why i am not just confident but very confident.

Cech - Easily playing his best football since his head injury
Ivanovic - Right back of the year last season and is one of the best defenders in the league
Cole - Best left back in the world, playing the best football of his carear without a dout
Terry - Looking very confident this season and hasen't put a foot wrong
Alex - Excellent in the air and again hasen't made a mistake this season
Mikel - Like a new player and i would say most improved in the PL this season
Essien - Like a new signing and not even 100% fit yet
Lampard - Hasen't hardly featured this season so what a boost he will be in a few weeks time
Malouda - Joint top scorer in the PL and every week just immense
Anelka - Clubs top scorer this season and just always a good performer
Drogba - Only played 8 games this season and has 6 goals, i dont need to say much else

Subs
Zhirkov - Looks to have settled and in the last 3 games has been our best performer
Bosingwa - Came back from a year out with a Man of the Match performance
McEachran - Slowly proving he can mix it in the top league
Kalou - Looks very sharp this season and fans are even saying he deserves more starts
Ramires - Settled quite well and i have seen very good things from the lad
Ferriera - Excellent back up, very professional and never dissapoints

Thats why i am confident, the only way i won't be confident is if Cech gets injured and then and only then i will start to worry.

Why is Essien not 100% fit yet? Hasn't he played virtually every game this season? He has made a massive difference to Chelsea this season, and is probably my favourite premiership player - I'd love him at Utd.

At the end of the day, there's nothing wrong with confidence, but there's a long way to go yet. I think the title may be decided by the 'big' games. Utd proved that they can outplay Chelsea in the charity shield, but if Chelsea beat Utd in their next encounter, then it's going to be a difficult bridge to gap.

.

Okay lets talk about last season, we have gained points from games we lost in last season. Does that automatically mean we are going to get better.

You seem so sure you get them results again. TBH you had one offside goal and a dodgy free kick against us last time out. Arsenl look better, they actually get stuck in now, I can see them taking at least 2 points off you, more likely 4. So get over it. You havent got it in the bag, Your just being a moron.

sorry cjako, but what are you talking about. you say josh M is slowly proving he can mix it in the prem, yet you say that berbatov isnt good enough for united, nonsense. McEachran hasnt proved anything yet. Essien is fit. Your one eyed views are getting a little tiresome

Got to say I agree with you on this one. Scott is being way too hard-headed over this. Where's the evidence to say Chelsea won't do the double of United and Arsenal? For Chelsea it's one fixture of the four down convincingly, three to go. I'd expect them to beat United at home, and with United's form and gulf in quality between them and Chelsea (my opinion, before anyone jumps on me) away too. Arsenal I don't see beating Chelsea at home either.

We haven't peaked too early we have carried on from last season.
Too early to say that. You may well have peaked too early.

Typical Arsenal fan, just because you have most of the ball dosen't mean you deserve anything from the game. Agreed. You're getting a lot more reasonable.

At the moment, I can't see past Chelsea. However. Chelsea's squad may soon be depleted by injury, something that they are susceptible to with the higher age of their squad. United can never be ruled out, and always get stronger after Christmas. Arsenal flatter to decieve, but look like they're pummeling the smaller teams (West Brom excepted) and if you can beat the small teams regularly, you're always in for a title shot. Liverpool are gone from the title challenge. Man City, I feel, are big challengers with their squad depth and quality. Tottenham won't challenge I reckon.

The interesting things will be how Chelsea perform against the second-tier teams. They drew with Villa - a good result considering the amount of chances - so lets see how many points they take off the likes of Everton and Liverpool.

Arsenl look better, they actually get stuck in now, I can see them taking at least 2 points off you, more likely 4. So get over it. You havent got it in the bag, Your just being a moron.
Just like to say: it's impossible for Arsenal to take 2 or 4 points off Chelsea. They can take either 0, 1 or 3 now, seeing as they've already lost one.
