Playing as Southampton, I originally had last season's nearly all red kit in place and FM14 knew to put white numbers of the players' backs in the 3D match animation. But now that the new kit is available for FM and I have replaced the relevant images among my files, this causes a problem with the white numbers being lost against the red-and-white stripes.
I know how to change number colours in the Editor but to my knowledge, these changes have to be made and applied when you initiate your save at the very beginning - you can't edit it mid-save. Please correct me if I'm wrong about this.
So in the meantime, I have edited the new 3D kit to put a red panel on the back so the white numbers show up against it:
