I did a little digging and found this tactic for 19.3.4, tried it and it's still extremely strong in 19.3.6. This is an extremely strong tactic that I've had a lot of fun using. Most goals in the league and the least conceded with Vitesse in second season! I couldn't be bothered to get fm 20 as it didn't look too different to fm19 so i'll enjoy using this tactic until fm 21 now probably :)

1st Season
Eredivisie Winners
Euro Cup Winners
u19 squad won every single game

2nd Season
Eredivisie Winners (with a record number of wins & points)
Dutch Cup Winners
Champions league knocked out by man city who were finalists

Post your results here if you try it :)

Hey stuartclark16,

Are you still using this tactic?

Still haven't found a good solid tactic for my Everton team.

It's the tactic that I'm currently using, have you tried it?

I've won the champions league with Vitesse in my 3rd season at the club. Now I am playing with Bournemouth

I have not tried it extensively yet, I am currently using a 3-1-4-2 from the FMScout website which seems to be going pretty well for now.
But I'll keep a watch on this one.

Nice. My favourite thing about this tactic is the defence is very solid with whatever team you use, making it effective in both home and away matches and in big games. There's no way I'd have won the CL with Vitesse and PL with Bournemouth if it couldn't use it in big games- check it out :)

I have switched over to this 4231 now, the 3142 just became too unstable at some point.

So far it's going alright. Dynamics just need to improve for now to be absolutely solid.

I'll try and stick with this tactic like glue, currently running 2 saves, 1 with Leipzig and 1 with Everton.
I'll try and post a screenshot at the winterbreak with my Leipzig team.

So far it's going alright. Had a few bad games and a 4-1 loss in the CL against Barca but the dynamics are slowly but surely getting better and it is reflecting on how my team plays.

I'll try and share a screenshot later today of my current results of the team.

These are my current results with the 4-2-3-1. As you can see it's been doing very well except for a few games where we just couldn't get it together as a team.

My goal is to win the CL with Leipzig and I have faith that I can get far this season.

I unfortunately lost against Lyon in the Semi Finals of the CL, Anthony Lopes was brilliant for them in both games. Lost with 2-1 at Home and Away.

Have made some specific signings this season to hopefully reach the Finals.

EDIT 21-07:

I'm still using this tactic through thick and thin.

Yesterday I've been trying to see if using a left footed MCL and right footed MCR have any positive effects on the tactic.
I've been trying it for 3-4 games and it seems to have a positive effect on my Leipzig team right now.

Not much, am battling against Schalke for 1st place and I'm in the Quarter Finals of the CL.

Hopefully in the evening after work, I can play some more games

EDIT:

We've done the impossible! Winning 4-1 against PSG even with a few players unavailable due to international duty. And won the Bundesliga after a pretty hard battle against Schalke, we came out on top in the end.

I have started using a left footed on the right and right footed on the left side of the wings, for some reason at the end of the season it started to give my team the necessary boost again. We have become a lot more dangerous with our crosses playing with IFs.

I'll test more to see if it really holds up like this or if it's just luck for now. I have also attached a screenshot of my Super Striker Fandl, got him 3 seasons ago for 15 million. He's just 19 years old! And such quality already. He doesn't always deliver but he really did in the CL Finals.

Excellent mate!! Did you change any roles or is everything the same here- with regards to the wingers (if)

I have kept everything the same, the tactic is good the way it is. Changing it could fundamentally change the actual results.
Though it seems that it really depends on who plays on the wings. Manor Solomon (who in real life seems to be a RW instead of a LW that he is in FM) for example isn't cutting it for me most of the times while Timo Werner has scored some decent goals from the left side.

The tactic instructions themselves are really geared towards natural wingers that can cross, so I might buy some actual wingers for the new season.

So far my season has been going very well in the 1st half, 2nd half has become a little more difficult, though I can't put my finger on what happened, it just feels like I'm getting FMed more in the 2nd half than I did in the 1st half.
For now I'm 1st with I think 10 points ahead of the nr 2 so am really not worried, I hope I can repeat my CL success this season.

We just did it again, won the CL against City. Won the Bundesliga as well with 20 points ahead of HSV.
Lost the German Cup in the 3rd round.
Won the FIFA Club World Cup against SPO.

Am really starting to like this tactic. It's been great for me. Have tried multiple 442 in the past but this 4231 is beating it results wise so far.
Had a rough patch at the start of February, lost 3 of 5, including the Cup game. After that it was all smooth sailing again for us.

Hi Stuart

I think I'm in the same position you've been in. Still playing FM19, not fussed about FM20, but would like to squeeze as much out of FM19 as I can. I've used the Traditional FourFourTwo 2.0 from the DYJ thread for every FM19 save I've done. I'd say I'm a little bored with the 4-4-2 BUT i'd be willing to stick with it if it was THE best formation/tactic out there. In your opinion whats the best tactic that can be used for 19.3.6? I've been through the Knap thread on the SI forums but, maybe because I'm old, I'm finding that a little confusing. Theres so many tactics on there. Also TFF has the 4-1-3-2 / 4-4-2 combo that he uses.

I think this will be my final save so I'd like to use the best out there. Whats your opinion?

Thanks!

Hi mate

I have done lots and lots of research on this, I’ve looked for a tactic that isn’t 4-4-2 and I’ve made some good ones of my own...

I personally think this tactic is my favourite for a few reasons

1. It produces great results (see this forum) which is obviously the main thing.
2. The shape and roles are easy to sign players for
3. it can take down big teams and be solid in big games and hold it's own in any scenario
4. It is essentially plug and play
5. You can use this tactic with any team right from the get go because it is the kind of shape which will make use of all the players in a squad
6. You don’t have to worry about leaving out world class players like CAMs like you do in a 442 for example.

These are my reasons why i like this tactic the most. It pleases me and i always can take teams right to the very top with it whilst playing beautiful possession football.

Interesting. It seems the style of play is much more important to you than me. I agree with every point you've made. My priority is winning, not so fussed about how, although I'll admit I am a bit bored of 4-4-2, so secretly hoping the best tactic out there for 19.3.6 isn't 4-4-2. I'm running a test at the moment with Knapps 4-1-4-1, 4-1-3-2, Chrissy Dudes Traditional 442 2.0, TFF Conquerer, TFF Gladiator. I'm using an underdog team. I feel like Knapps 4-1-4-1 is the strongest so far, but they are all winning the league. I might add this in to the test

My priority is obviously winning, as is everyone's, but I would much rather win in a good formation where I can sign any player and they'll fit than having to painstakingly scout for wide midfielders and leave out top players. I want to win with a good style which can fit any club. No way would Barcelona play a 442 and play direct football. I like the idea of being able to pass the ball.

I think you should as this tactic is very strong. I literally won the CL with Vitesse using it, plus with Bournemouth, so clearly the style is very effective too.
