on a side note, i think that in the future we should set the template to be used as the competition standard so that this:

doesn't happen anymore. lot's of votes are based on the template alone and really moots the competition.

No, most just vote on kit, not template.

No for a number of reasons-

1) Not everyone will have the selected kit style
2) Not everyone will like the style they are working with
3) Not many templates available with the style (for the newer styles)
4) Lacks variety
