This thread is about me trying to bring back Huddersfield to the big time.

This thread started at Huddersfield where i tried to take them to the premier league and failed. In my third year with the club i finished 7th narrowly missing out on the play offs. Despite my best efforts i was unable to bring in better players, giving 0 for transfers and was expected to challenge for promotion, didnt have any wages and lost on on alot of key signings so i stepped down after three years...Trying not to see this as a fail but maybe the next step?

The Appointment

08/07/2008- After the scandal that found manager Lee Clark ******* with Stan Collymore (A) Huddersfield town have appointed former pro Kris Jackson as there new manager. Despite having no previous managerial experience Jackson comes in with all his coaching badges and an outstading reference from Town's fan favourites Denis Law and Peter Jackson.

Fans will be hoping the former Motherwell,Barnsley and Walsall manager can bring the clubs eight year low in league 1 to an end.

Finances

a bank balance of 1.2m is pretty decent and a wage bill of 41,991 however i am using 42.254 which will need to be addressed.

Like i mentioned before they pay 1.7 per year in rent and have 3 different bank loans paying 18k a month for all three which isnt bad.

I also managed to get Man Utd as my parent club paying out 89k a year, Hopefully this will prove to be a very smart move when/if we get promoted and can attrect half decent players.

With the tight wage bill i found it very hard to attract players but i think the experience of Ian Walker will prove to be a good move. The rest are squad players who i feel will do a job when called upon.

So Far..

What a start ehh? nice 5-0 win vrs promotion chasing Millwall. Also got a nice win over Leicester. Away form has not been great but hopefully i can tweak things about. Also not happy with a few dodgy results vrs Stockport and a dodgy penalty shoot out win over Oldham.

Updates coming soon for anyone who cares to read this very long and boring rant.

Also like to note the club had 16000 season ticket holders. Out of a 24500 stadium in league 1 i think thats pretty impressive.

A good read Kris. Hope you do well. Its really annoying when you go to a club and they are already over the wage budget isn't it? Keep us updated on your progress :D

P.S. Loving the bit about the former Manager XD

im playing luton 9.3 im safe from the -30 points after 20 games won 13 drawn 5 and lost 2 im on 20 points

I was wondering when this first started what the aim of the thread was but near the end it made it more clear and far better than saying I'm now manager of Huddersfield I'll keep you updated makes readers more invovled.

doing an ok job so far i guess, bit upset at how many goals i leak at times and my away form..picked up a bit but it's still my downfall.

Leeds running away with it and rightly so, they have the best squad and a good manager.

Stuck in a state where if i play it out i'll prob get play offs or i can try to further tweak things and hope it doesnt back fire on me.

More Updates next time....any advice i will take in pl0x.

Well, you are scoring plenty of goals so thats good. I don't know what tactics you are using but you might wanna consider moving your defensive line back maybe? Individual instructions on DC to ultra defensive? I'm not that good with tactics so it may not work. I'm sure someone on here who's better at tactics will say if I have advised the wrong thing

I don't know what your tactics are but i tend to play narrow to keep it tight, add to that short passing and the players are more likely to keep possession with them playing narrower and therefor closer together. Also put your Def line in the middle to start a game and see how it goes,if you need to score push it up to around 14 - 16 if you're seeing a game out put it deeper to around 5-7.Put your CBs only to tight marking but not man marking.Good Luck though.

Good job getting Ian Walker and Man utd as parent club.

If possible try get Possebon and Gibson - maybe even Fabio on loan. They came to me at Leeds but it is easier to attract players at Leeds I guess.

Try Denis Alibec also If you do have a spare 40k, worked wonders for me in L1. Also David Edgar on loan from the Geordies was a cracking purchase for me.

Apologies if you have already looked at these or stated that you have no cash...I cant read most of the post as I am at work.

cheers lads, Fabio,Possebon and Gibson are players i'm going to look into if i manage promotion. Good shout with Edgar will need to chance my luck and i will check out the other lad aswell :)

Cheers for the advice Woody, Don't know if i want to risk editing the tactics just now. If it goes pear shaped though i will try it out. Never been the biggest fan of narrow play but if it works why not.

Should try get Possebon etc in L1 even if you don't get promoted/now...they came when I was in L1 and Manure weren't my feeder club, but obviously I was Leeds with a better Rep.

But with them being your parent, they might be offered to you.

How about Mancienne from Chelsea? Doing a job for me at Barnsley in Champ.

:O James you own that Alibec boy is quite good. Made a bid but i only have 47k so i dont fancy chances.

Only cost me 40k with Leeds in first season ;) Might take him a few games to settle and he gets a lot better with age (at 20 I sold for £8.5m to Sporting Lisbon)

Ok So i played a few games yesterday and just fell apart...sitting 7th now. Changed Tactics and i beat MK Dons 3-0 at home so maybe i will pick up again.

Took Redders advice and made loan bids for about 8 Man U reserves lol.

Possebon rejected me for Leeds, Fabio just said no, Got the young German Keeper Ziegler to provide some cover. Lee Martin (was so shocked i got him) to provide some flair. got Macheda aswell.

Funds are slowly going down every few weeks because of the bank loans so i had to sell a few players to increase the bank balance. Young attacking midfielder Collins was sold to Carlisle for 200k.

Hopefully Lee Martin can be my old school cm star player and help me push up the league.

Any luck with Alibec?

How about Jamie Mole on loan from Hearts? :p

Doing fantastic with about 6 in 9 so far with me at Barnsley...but again maybe he won't come to L1.

His club are trying to take the **** a bit with there value. Going to keep trying though.

Was unable to sign anyone else due to the clubs tight wage budget and rightly so i guess. Lee Martin has been great so far (the shear presence of the guy has lifted morale and everyone seems to be playing with him).

I went on an amazing run of 10 games without draw or defeat last night but still couldnt lift myself up the league.

The top 4 teams keep winning and are so close together and keep winning so with 7 games left i'm looking at the play offs.

(sorry i dont have screenshots i forgot to upload them last night)

Will finish the season tonight and provide a season summary.

EDIT:

The season is over and fm09 has been my most successfull season for play off finals ever. I have now won play offs with Wolves,Huddersfield, two with Weston and one with Carluke Rovers in Scotland.

There is no doubt in my mind that the play offs were won by 4 players only.

Lee Martin
Nathan Clarke
Arnal

Keigan Parker
http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/album.php?albumid=20&pictureid=754

Unfortunatly the club have slipped into debt and me being the idiot i am set the bonus for the league to high...sigh

Oh well a very successfull season this year, hopefully i can stay up next year and the board give me some wages.

Would like to thank Redders,Nursemorph and JP Woody for there help and advice.

Huddersfields eight year spell in league 1 is over.

---------- Post added at 08:31 AM ---------- Previous post was yesterday at 08:41 AM ----------

Started the season last night.

Nottm Forrest 1-1 Huddersfield.

The debt problem has gone after releasing some high earners. The club now have 4m in the bank and i am 18k under my wage bill.

The board have set my aim at 'avoid religation' and gave me 94k to do the job.

Signings so far:

Christian Daily (free)- good back up player who would be ok if called upon

Djimi Traore(Portsmouth-Free) a great buy if you ask me, will do well at left back or centre half

Lee Martin(Man-Utd-Loan)Was happy to bring back Lee Martin for the full season, once again i think he will be a key player

Lee Brady(Man Utd-Loan)-I have seen this young lad dominate league 1 and do decent in the championship for a mate and i don't need to play him since he is a loany..win win

Darron Gibson(Man Utd-Loan) Strong centre mid who should do well at championship level

Macheda-(Man Utd-Loan) Yup another loan signing from Man U :p.

Mark Viduka(free)-Bags of experience and still has 17 finishing

Hilario(Free)- The former chelsea stopper was recomended by scouts and (yn) will be a good number 1

I also signed some spanish centre half who i cannot remember by heart

Good luck on the new season. Glad to see you got the finances sorted out. Its hard in the lower leagues to balance the books. You got some pretty good loan signings there and I reckon that, with the right tactics, you should achieve at least mid-table, maybe more

well done mate hopefully u can be succesful this season. keep up the good work.
