looking at getting a new laptop.

Currently got an Acer Aspire 5742Z with an Intel Pentium processor p6100 and 3GB Ram, with Intel HD Graphics.

runs about 2 star performance but can overheat if not lifted/tilted.

was looking at this laptop...

it has a Intel® Core™ i5-3230M processor and 4 GB Ram with Intel HD Graphics 4000.

I don't know much about laptops, but after about an hour I think that sounds better for £419. Can anyone recommend better, preferably under the £450 mark. or is that laptop suitable and how would it run, any feedback welcome. thanks!

i5 and more than enough ram should run perfectly fine.
Unless you plan on playing some high end games you wont need anything too brilliantly expensive, i5 is more than fast enough. Laptops will overheat because of the way they're designed anyway, I'd suggest getting a little laptop cooler if you're using it often and it's on a surface that doesn't dissipate the heat well (Carpet, duvet on your bed etc).

I have just bought a Lenovo G580 with 4GB ram and 1.8GHz processor and I can play FM fine on it. However I cannot watch the matches in 3D.

My laptop has an i5 processor, handles what FM has to offer seamlessly.
