I am currently third in League one in January 2010 with Charlton. Most of my squads contracts are up in the summer and I am in serious debt. Who should I keep and who should i release? Also how much money do you get for winning league one right down to 6th?

Randolph £800
Daily £5000
Basey £1500
Sodje £3000
Spring £5250
Wagstaff £1000
Mckenzie £4000
Moutaoukil £8000
Sinclair £4000
Dickson £3000
Fleetwood £4000
McLeod £6000


Also is there a way of making players more likely to accept reduced contracts?
 
Keep the young ones, sell the old, buy/loan from the shortlists in this thread. whenever I manage a team in debt I pretty much gut the roster and get rid of anyone over 25

you get around 100K for positions 1-6 in L1 (got league table->rules) so nowhere near enough to cover costs - you need a good cup run or win JPT as well

Guys like Sean Doherty (AM L), Michael Nardiello(ST) are cheap and good for L1 and L2. You can get them on 20-30K p/a

Also at the end of the season you should scout all the youth players released by premiership teams. A lot of them aren't good enough for the premiership but will be pretty good in low leagues. You should get an email

Randolph £800 - Keep (Turns out decent)
Daily £5000 - Sell/Release (Much better out there for £5k)
Basey £1500 - Keep (Loan out becomes a decent player)
Sodje £3000 - Sell/Release (Average at best)
Spring £5250 - Sell/Release (Not sure about him, so trim wages)
Wagstaff £1000 - Keep (Decent player)
Mckenzie £4000 - Sell/Release (Wages dont show his ability)
Moutaoukil £8000 -Sell/Release (Same as Mckenzie)
Sinclair £4000 - Sell/Release (Same as Mckenzie)
Dickson £3000 - Not sure about him, decide closer to end of season, pending on performances
Fleetwood £4000 - Same as above
McLeod £6000 - Sell/Release (Poor wages, can do MUCH better)

Also get release fringe players. Mainly youngster who cant cut the mustard. As Tesco say, "Every Little Helps"

Sell any 32+, cash in on the frnge players as soon as possible.
 
For helping you decide who to keep and who to get rid off.

Look at average ratings first and which positions they play, the harder to replace position they are in the more you need them, so keep them, then at contracts, then at age and then if they can be sold easily and for how much. If all that fails scourer for young players in the market for those positions needed, older people may be better now and more experienced, but youths can develop and also have cheap contracts, and the fact that youth players are less arrogant and will take advice.

McLeod £6000 - Get Rid - bought McLeod a couple of times with League 1 & 2 clubs and never lives up to expectation
 
cheers i got rid of mckenzie, sinclair, dickson, fleetwood and mcleod in the end.
I sold Moutaoukil to ipswich for £250,000 :)
Llyod Sam reduced his wage from £8000 to £1500
