League Rankings: Can anyone explain this?

I mean a serious explanation, I'm not just raging here:

PSV game:
14/15: Euro Cup Winners
15/16: UCL Winners
16/17: UCL Winners

At start of game Eredevisie is ranked 8th in leagues. Part of my hope for this playthrough was to "restore the glory" of Dutch football.

Well just before the 17/18 season FIFA released the new rankings and the Dutch league *dropped* to 9th and was overtaken by the Ukrainian League. WTF?

If you're wondering: I checked and neither Shakhtar or Dynamo Kiev has done squat in Europe in this game.

So anyone have any idea how this is calculated and why this might have happened? Thanks in advance.

Maybe the other Dutch teams failed to qualify for European competitions? Or did very poorly (besides you).

It is still bullshit though, I agreee...

The performance of the other teams in Eredivisie also counts. Although it seems a bit harsh in this case, but still..
