I've tried that before, he barely ever listens.

Try it though, you might have more luck.

Hi, he's only been sent off twice for me but both times I fined him and both times his aggression stat dropped 1 so maybe try that?

If he still is diving into his tackles, try setting his tackling to more cautious.
