(First story ever, still ignore if **** though)

I was woken up today after receiving brilliant news that my application for the managerial position at Leeds United was accepted. I had offers elsewhere but this was my main target and after the unfortunate events at Wigan, this was the one chance I was looking for to turn my career around and revive the infamous club that is Leeds United. "What an oppurtunity this is!" I thought to myself, trying hard not to get too excited as it wasn't set in stone yet.
I had heard Redfearn was recently treated poorly by the chairman and that came to a surprise to me after he had seemingly turned their season around.
I was anxious, paranoid but mostly optimistic about meeting Massimo. It's strange but despite all the negativity that surrounded the club and current chariman, I couldn't help but think of this as a an oppurtunity I could only wish for; "Uwe Rosler, the new manager of the Leeds United". When you've seen and experienced the success United achieved, it's really hard not to end up drooling at the idea.

I met with Massimo today and we discussed football, tactics, club goals and history. We sat talking about the history of Leeds United for hours and how the fans have really got the short end of the stick for more than a decade. He seemed just as ambitious as me, he wanted this club back to where it belonged and he seemed to take a liking to my attitude. He was talking to me about the current team and how it's full of amazing young talent, he said that producing/signing young talent will be a system he'll be encouraging and has done since his Cagliari days. I could only agree that bringing in young talent is vital, especially in a league like the Championship. You want to build for the future, you need to be constantly improving and looking forward. It's a profitable and money saving system, you don't want to get stuck with a bunch of past-it footballers on silly wages.
We agreed that getting this club back would likely be a three year plan and if that wasn't achieved by then, then we had both failed our jobs and the fans. We already had some great players here, it's now all about keeping them here and improving. We can't be a selling club if we want to get out of this league and onto the good times. Onwards and upwards, "marching on together". He was seemingly impressed about my idea of introducing the style I had described as 'heavy metal' football.

I went away for a few days and was feeling pretty positive about how the interview went. I was already analysing Leeds' last seasons performance and videos, trying to find weaknesses to improve and what targets I should be looking to bring in. I was reading an article about Sam Byram and the interest he was receicing from Premier League clubs. I then recieved a call from Massimo. I didn't know what to think, my palms started getting sweaty, my knees got weak and my arms were heavy. I was losing myself. I turned my ipod off as the music was distracting me.
"He-hello?"
"Hi Uwe. I'm delighted to inform you that I want you to become the new head coach of Leeds United. You seemed very confident and ambitious in the interview, you are exactly what I want and I can't wait to start working with you."
I didn't understand half of it. I don't know if it was the accent or the excitement. He hung up and I sat there, hand still on phone just staring at my loptop with the biggest smile you'd ever see. I hadn't felt like this since my first goal for Man City back in the 90s.
"Leeds United, huh?" I thought to myself in disbelief.

Today I met up with Massimo again to confirm my position, sealing a contract with the club until 2015. It's now time to make this dream a reality.

A week has gone by and we've been hard on the lads in training. I've been mostly focusing on conditioning,
getting the team ready for next season and the high intensity I want them to be playing with. I've managed to get a look at a few players and there's definitely something here to build on. Players like Byram, Cook, Mowatt & Taylor look very promising with a lot of potential. Sharp, Wood, Antenucci, Murphy & Bellusci all look talented and add experience to what is a very young squad. I feel like we are in need of a more experienced midfielder though, because Murphy is the oldest head in midfield at the age of 25. I think I need a leader, someone who can keep us organised in midfield and prevent mistakes.

We have our first friendly today. We play Inverness CT and this will give me a chance to see just what we're lacking and build a team that can make a real push for playoffs. The formation I'm hoping to achieve here is 4-3-3/4-5-1 despite the lack of width in the squad.
We played amazing against Inverness, limiting them to one shot on target and dominating most of the match in
the right areas. We are far from perfect but this squad has great potential from what I've seen so far. We need to make more of our chances though, or even find the right players to create better ones.

We've just finished all four of our friendlies and despite pretty unconvincing results, there was definitely some positives to take from the matches. We managed to dominate most of the games but we just lacked any threat going forward. The midfield seems talented and Sharp looks like a forward that'll do really well with some additions to the squad. Byram is constantly causing havok on the right and I'm considering training him to play right wing as he shows a lot of promise.

Time for Transfers
It's glaringly obvious that we lack pace and width with this squad and my first target will be a left winger. If we can provide decent service to a finisher of Sharp's ability/reputation then we'll be in great shape for when the season starts.
I thought Charlie Taylor looked great in training but he's been a little error prone in friendlies. I'll be sending him out on loan and trying to bring in a more experienced left back. I'm sure Taylor will come back almost a brand new player, he shows a lot of promise and I have high hopes for his future at the club.

I was contacted by an agent today informing me that his client Alberto Cerri was looking for a club! After doing my research he had success at u17 level for Italy and had a very convincing loan period at Lanciano. I entered contract discussions and his demands were very low, so this one was almost risk free. I managed to get him on £2,500 p/w and he looks very promising. I will be sending him out on loan though as I have too many options for his position at the moment.

Elyounoussi is a name that had been doing the rounds on social media and several news sources for the past week and for good reason too. Rosler was rumoured to be keeping tabs on the versatile winger since his time at Wigan and considering the lack of width Leeds have they were delighted to confirm that he'd be joining the club on a 5 year deal for a fee of £2.6m.

Today Leeds confirm the signing of Humam Tariq, 18, who became the youngest ever Iraq international and already has 15 caps.

Tariq came to prominence last year after an excellent showing in the Under-20 World Cup, where he helped Iraq to the semi-finals and gained his nickname. That alerted several clubs in Europe to his potential, but Uwe Rosler made the first move.

Humam Tariq has been loaned out to Sandhausen after his work permit was rejected but will be in Leeds' plans in the future.

López has joined Leeds United on loan from Roma until the end of the season, where he is likely to get a lot of first-team football considering their lack of options out wide. López is a versatile player that prefers to play as a striker but can play both left and right wing.

Leeds continue their raid of Italy, something they aren't shy of since Massimo Cellino bought the club in 2013. Diego Laxalt will join on loan until the end of the season and further improve the options out wide. Leeds fans are unsure about bringing in another winger on loan and some will be wondering why someone wasn't brought in permanently for the position.

Leeds secure the signing of Scott Golbourne from Wolves for a reported fee of £1.3m after rumours spread that Charlie Taylor would be leaving on loan this window. Wolves fans react angrily at letting the talented full-back leave for such an insulting fee.

Golbourne will be the fifth signing for Leeds this window and will be further proof that they mean business and are ambitious for the season ahead.

Former PSG and Santos player Nene joins Leeds on a free until 2015. Having failed to replicate his
performances at previous club sides, Nene was released from his short-term contract at Upton Park following eight lacklustre appearances during the previous season - in which the one-time AS Monaco man failed to score a single goal.

Despite the unlikelihood of these talks, the Brazilian's representative, Barry McIntosh, confirmed two weeks ago that a return to English football is a possibility - as he revealed interest from England.

"Nene does feel like there is some unfinished business in England and, yes, there is some interest."

Tranfers out(less exciting so keeping it small):
Leeds United have sold Steve Morison to Birmingham for a fee of £200k as his wages were too high for the role he had at the club.
Humam Tariq has left Leeds to join Sandhausen on loan.
Alberto Cerri has left Leeds to join Young Boys on loan.
Chris Dawson has left Leeds to join Motherwell on loan.
Charlie Taylor has left Leeds to join Millwall on loan.
Nicky Ajose has left Leeds to join Bradford on loan.
Souleymane Doukara has left Leeds to join Bolton on loan.

I'm feeling very optimistic after an amazing transfer window. We've managed to retain every valuable player and strengthen a squad that's very young and hungry for success. I may be getting ahead of myself but if we can start the season with good form then I'm sure we'll be able to challenge for playoffs. I'm very happy that we had the pulling power to obtain Nene, who I think will be outstanding at this level.

I'm hoping that Cerri, Taylor, Tariq and Dawson learn and grow a lot with their loans. They are all fantastic players for their age and developing these young players is very important to the future of the club. We also have Byram, Cook and Mowatt in the first team and I know they all have the potential to be playing at the level we strive to be in.

Rotherham vs Leeds
It's finally match day as Leeds United go head-to-head with Rotherham for the first game of the season. Leeds united are considered the favourites as many expect Rotherham to be scraping relegation this season.

Elyounoussi is set to make his first appearance for the club today and the fans are excited to see the new man in action after joining for a club record fee of £2.6m.

We comfortably beat Rotherham 2-1 today! We had 60% possession away from home but that was also with worryingly low shots on target. I'm going to have to have words with Wood and maybe make some tactical changes to ensure we make most of those chances against better opposition. It's still early in the season but this league is unforgiving and you need to make everything count.

Antenucci really impressed me today, he was everywhere and making everything happen. His goal just before halftime definitely made the game easier and he continued to impress in the second half.

Elyounoussi played well on his debut by creating chances and making space but did miss a few sitters. I guess it's early and there's a lot of pressure over his head but hopefully there won't be too many of those missed for a while.

Good result nevertheless and getting that first win is absolutely vital. We face Scunthorpe in the Capital One Cup next and I'm hoping for us to have a good run and show what we're all about.

Leeds Fans Worried After Scunthorpe

Scunthorpe managed to hold Leeds United off in true underdog fashion and took Leeds to penalties to determine the

result tonight. Scunthorpe were unfortunate to exit as losers after a well fought match against a team quite literally on another level. Both set of fans will go home feeling disappointed, as neither team played well and it could have been anyone's game.

Leeds progress through the competition but fans are left with doubts after several unconvincing results in preseason followed by weak performances against Rotherham and Scunthorpe.

Rosler received abuse at the end of the match after the performance tonight. The fans were upset with how Leeds were playing as of recent and made their feelings known to the new manager.

View attachment 243578

I leave angry and disappointed after tonight's performance against Scunthorpe. I'm definitely feeling the pressure of managing such a huge club, the fans aren't shy of showing their displease. I'm going to make a few changes to the formation, tactics and lineup for the next game as we just aren't performing as we should be.

The new signings have been working hard in training and getting familiar with the tactics so we'll see what positive changes we can make for our next game. We were playing more defensively beforehand and trying to counter attack but we have much more ability to control games with our midfield options. Fast-flowing attacking football will be used against Burnley at home, hopefully we can deliver a performance that we're more than capable of showing.

Leeds United sweep challenging Burnley aside in dominating fashion after a cool 2-0 victory. Nicolás López was inspiring for The Whites tonight with his first appearance for the club after recently coming in on loan from Roma. He netted his first goal for the club and left fans wanting more.

Liam Cooper confirmed the victory after a headed effort from a corner found the back of the net, the Scottish centre-back put in a fine display for Leeds and helped them secure the win against a difficult side.

I'm delighted with how the match went tonight and after the last two performances I knew I had to make some changes, I just happened to make the right ones. I'm happy that Lopez is living up to his expectations after coming from such a big club and making a massive impact on his first appearance for the club. I may have to try and get him here permanently if he keeps it up!

We played really good football against Burnley and that was my main goal. We needed to be more threatening and make most of our chances. I feel with Lopez and Elyounoussi on the wings we'll never be giving the opposition a break as they are both a constant threat.

It's disappointing that Cook is injured but it's only looking like he'll miss one game so it isn't as serious as I thought.

Looking good so far! Will be following, been awhile since I've saw a Leeds story on here!

Good luck.

Updated an old post containing squad members as I wasn't able to do that yesterday due to connection limitations. Hopefully this makes you all feel more included with the save and team so you can see how much players grow from since I joined the club.

Thanks all for the support so far, will likely be heading towards 15 games tonight but I'm a bit busy so bare with me!

Leeds Face Difficult Brentford

Leeds face a side today that most consider promotion contenders. Since current Brentford owner Matthew Benham took over in 2012, Brentford have been making a lot of progress and enjoyed a positive season finishing 5th last season and falling short to Middlesborough in the playoffs.

Leeds United will be lucky to get a point from this game but have been in good form thus far with a great performance against Burnley last week.

View attachment 243417View attachment 243416

Chris Wood scores his first ever goal for Leeds United today which helped them grab a point from a game a lot of people doubted them in. Stuart Dallas scored the equaliser for Brentford in what was a fairly stale match overall with little very little to get excited about.

We did very well to get a point from Brentford tonight and cancelled them out very effectively in midfield. We looked in control for most parts of the game and hopefully we'll continue performing as we have been now for the past two games. The new formation I've introduced has made us a lot more effective going forward and my expectations of how we should be playing are now being met.

Charlton at home next and I'll be making little changes to no changes. I expect us to get three points and we need to win games like these if we intend on reaching the playoffs.

Leeds Favourites for Charlton Encounter

Charlton visit Leeds at Elland Road for what should be a difficult match for them. Leeds United have had a strong start to the season and have appeared to have brought in some remarkable players which have played a big part in their strong start.

Leeds will look to continue their fine form against the likes of Charlton this evening. Fans will be expecting nothing but three points from this match.

View attachment 243408View attachment 243406

Leeds United absolutely dominate Charlton and leave fans delighted with the performance after easy 2-0 victory at Elland Road.

Chris Wood scored an early goal at just 10 minutes in which was followed by a goal 8 minutes later from Norwegian winger Elyounoussi gifting Leeds a deserved three points.

I couldn't believe the display today, we held possession that well I thought I was the manager for Barcelona for a second! I jokingly asked my assistant if we should bring Iniesta on at half time but he didn't seem to appreciate the humour and just shook his head.

I'm feeling very confident in this new formation and starting 11, we've been performing so well as of late and I can only hope that we can continue. Mowatt has been excellent in midfield and is one of my favourite players at the club. He's great for set pieces and constantly keeps passing and looking for space to receive the ball, he's the heart of our midfield at the moment.

Leeds Play Derby in Capital One Cup 2nd Round

Leeds will play Derby to decide their fate in the Capital One Cup, a competition both teams will be looking to have a long and entertaining run in. Two strong teams from the Championship clash to avoid an early exit.

Leeds are favourites for this game as Derby have had a really slow start to the season - drawing all four championship games and only winning against Plymouth in the Capital One Cup. Will Leeds be the start of Derby's turnaround?

View attachment 243368View attachment 243367

Leeds make the most of little chances against Derby. Billy Sharp started for the first time today and Leeds fans will be happy he did as the 28-year-old managed to score a goal just two minutes into the game!

View attachment 243354

Derby's Craig Bryson scored a relieving equaliser at the 39th minute hoping to bring his team back into the game just before half time.

Sharp makes Bryson's goal futile and scores on the volley from a near post cross presented by Byram at the 44th minute.

This game had few chances but was a nail biting battle throughout. Leeds fans will be impressed that they continued their run of games unbeaten and progress further through the cup.

View attachment 243361

I decided to give Billy Sharp a game today after Wood wasn't impressing too much in other games, sure he scored but his contribution to build up play wasn't amazing. I'm glad I gave Billy a chance to impress, and impress he definitely did.

It's great that we've managed to maintain an unbeaten record with the fixtures we've had and my belief in this team is constantly increasing.

All Square at Molineux

Wolves hold Leeds to a draw after a dull display at the Molineux.

Leeds looked the most threatening but it was a game of few chances and few chances taken well. Wolves will be happy to have got a point from an in-form Leeds team.

Leeds fans will be happy to maintain their unbeaten run and further climb the table after their recent form at the start of this season.

I'm delighted that we're continuing this unbeaten run and we were unlucky not to get three points today but we did well to steal one after Cooper was sent off. This was a frustrating game for strikers from both teams.

Nicolas Lopez was injured today, he's out for 2months after pulling his hamstring. It's disappointing but gives players like Laxalt and Antenucci a chance to step up.

Leeds Take Chances vs Middlesborough

Billy Sharp got on the scoresheet early at the 12th minute after a fantastic delivery from Sam Byram.

George Friend wasn't so friendly as he received a red card for a disturbing challenge on Antenucci, luckily he was able to walk it off and continued.

Antenucci really got revenge when he netted a superb effort from outside the box after a through ball from Sam Byram. Leeds went into the dressing room confident at a 2-0 lead and a man advantage.

Cook made it three and found the back of the net after curling one around the keeping from almost 30 yards out, not bad for his first goal of the season!

Middlesborough pulled one back after Belllusci conceded a penalty but the game was already won at that point.

View attachment 243333

I was worried after finding out Lopez was out for 2 months but Antenucci put all the worries behind me after an impressive performance against a top side. The options we have in this squad are great and we've really turned things around after a poor preseason.

Sharp Secures Win for Leeds
Sharp receives fans love-in after he scores two quickfire goals against Bristol City two minutes from each other.

Keeping chances little and making most of theirs has been a common occurrence for Leeds this season but it is definitely showing to be rewarding.
Sharp has become a fans favourite in a short period of time after replacing Wood in the starting 11 just three matches ago, he's proving yet again to be a great finisher in the Championship

We've beaten some great teams so far and I expected a good result from this, though I hoped we would have done it more convincingly against this side.

The Sharp and Byram link up is proving to be magnificent, they've been working really well together and winning games.

Jumping ahead a few games with short descriptions of each because it's getting a bit tiresome with similar results and proving difficult to keep each match report interesting. I did start this season before my story as it wasn't planned, so recapping games is getting boring as well.

View attachment 243325

I was amazed at our result against Cardiff, especially as we were away! We managed to convert 4 of 6 chances into goals which is incredible. We conceded early after a stupid mistake lead to a penalty but bounced right back.

We are looking unstoppable at the moment, even when we play poorly we somehow pull a rabbit out of the hat and score.

View attachment 243324

Sharp continues to impress me and adds to the scoresheet in an impressive display against Ipswich. We limited them to one shot on target which has happened a few times this season I believe, not sure what we're doing to achieve that but it's really positive.

We progress to the fourth round of the Capital One Cup and hopefully we can go further.

View attachment 243323

Academy products make it two against ex-Leeds manager Simon Grayson! Byram has been unbelievable this season and it always makes me smile when he manages to net himself a goal.

We had a comfortable game against Preston and yet again limited them to that many chances.

Leeds concede two goals and look to lose the first game of the season against rivals Huddersfield, this could be one of the most disappointing ends to a brilliant run.

Sam Byram scored a great goal last game and he scores again after making a run inside and pouncing on a loose pass by Murphy.

Antenucci keeps unbeaten run alive after placing a shot around the keeping in the 87th minute.

Sharp proves reliable again and tucks away a soft penalty just before half time.

Leeds looked comfortable thoughout this game and had tight grips on the game. Hull couldn't get too much of the ball and it looked like an easy three points for Leeds.

N'Doye releases a magnificent shot from outside the box
in the 88th minute to undeservedly steal two points from Leeds. Hull fans will be pleased to get anything from that performance.

Leeds are back to winning ways after young midfielder Lewis Cook scores a long range shot and is the winning goal against Fulham. Cook has been contributing to goals a lot recently and is showing a lot of promise.

It's an impressive batch of results for Leeds this season, who will stop them?

Birmingham were unlucky to concede an own goal in the 3rd minute after the ball takes a massive deflection from a corner.

Leeds concede a penalty after a questionable challenge and Eardley fires it down the centre to make it 1-1.

Birmingham, after just scoring a penalty, then go on to concede one just minutes later after a clumsy challenge on Sam Byram. Sharp fires home the penalty and the game looks as good as done. Sharp will be delighted with his goalscoring record at the club so far, the fans are thoroughly impressed with his contribution this season.

I can't believe that we've achieved what we have thus far, we're looking like promotion contenders if we keep this form going. I'm proud of the squad for what they are doing. It's amazing considering I was aiming at playoffs and we're just looking unbeatable at the moment.
I haven't won an award yet though which is strange considering we were predicted to finish mid-table. I guess there's time yet but I thought the performance we've achieved would warrant one.

I think I'll be looking at bringing in a centre-back next transfer window as that's the only area we could really improve on at the moment, judging from the games so far. Bellusci is superb but he's the only solid one we have. I've been keeping tabs on Rugani at Juve who has been doing really well for the u21 team.

Taylor & Dawson seem to be doing well out on loan and are making some real progress which is always good. Humam Tariq has scored four goals in 9 appearances for Sandhausen and has been PoM twice already.

Sorry if this bulk of update is displeasing, just had to be done to keep my sanity. I'll continue the rest as planned.

It's reassuring to get an extension after such a short time at the club. It's a great feeling to receive praise from Massimo and show the fans that I'm here for the long run.
I hope this creates a positive feeling around the club and will produce more great displays on the pitch.
