Leeds are currently lying in 1st place in the Sky Bet Championship.
Leeds have won three of their last five away games in the league with Blackburn having also won three of their last home games. A defeat could see Leeds drop down to 2nd.
Blackburn have been performing above expectations so far this season and find themselves sat in 3rd place.
Leeds united took full advantage of their numerical advantage as they beat Blackburn 5-3 at Elwood Park. Blackburn finished the game with nine men due to ill-discipline and injury and were always likely to get anything from the game.
Things turned sour for Blackburn when ball-winning midfielder Jason Lowe earned himself an early bath for persistent fouling on 14 minutes.
Winger Marcus Olsson gave Blackburn the lead with a headed attempt which went in off the frame of the goal in the 24th minute.
Tireless Craig Conway doubled Blackburn's lead with another good header from just inside the six-yard box on 34 minutes. When Duffy gave away a penalty, Sharp confidently stepped up to score from the spot.
Complete wing back Marshall had a chance to score from the penalty spot for Rovers on the 48th minute mark but Marco Silvestri was able to deny him.
Advanced playmaker Casper Sloth then equalised for Leeds in the 51st minute with an inclusive finish from 12 metres. Blackburn's Best was forced off by injury in the 64th minute.
Sharp then added his 2nd goal of the game with a well timed close range finish on 70 minutes. Target man Rudy Gestede then equalised for Blackburn in the 75th minute with a towering header from close range.
Winger Mirco Antenucci then put Leeds back in the lead after 83 minutes with a close range finish. The Leeds fans might have been forgiven for thinking that would have been that but the scoring wasn't over.
An error from Blackburn's Lee Williamson allowed Sharp to score a well taken finish from close range to complete his hat-trick.
Leeds fans were pleased with the number of times the team managed to test the opposition goalkeeper. Casper Sloth and Billy Sharp particularly impressed.
