June 13th 2009

As i walked through the door to my flat, i collapsed down onto my sofa and switched on sky sports news to hear, that Simon Grayson had re-signed from his mangerial position at my be-loveded Leeds United. Great, just great, something else to add to my awful day at my 9-5 job in Asda which resulted in me getting sacked because apparently throwing skittles and shouting "taste the rainbow" is not apprioate behaviour. So it droaned on how he fell out with chairman Ken Bates. I just lay there on the sofa thinking i'm 30, now jobless and no girlfriend in my small flat in Northen Yorkshire

Yorkshire is a pretty decent place to live, apart from the odd yobish behaviour every now and again. I love football, i'm a decent centre midfielder but at 30 i feel i'm a little bit too old to get noticed and I play for my sunday league team. And worst of all, most of my old school mates have gone off to bigger and better things in their lambos but not me i'm stuck with my 8 year old Ford Focus in sunny old Yorkshire.

June 14th 2009
I woke up at my usual time of 8.45 am, so i decided to head straight for the job centre as a responsible adult to set up a job allowance account, they appolgised because there was 1 job available was as a cleaner in Nando's, i didn't take the job as i can't even keep my 1 bedroom flat clean.

Then it shot me, i rembered the FA coaching course i had took 3 years ago, when i thought that i could be the new manager of Leeds. So i rushed home turned on my computer and got an application form filled it all in, and ran to the postbox, excited as i cold be the next Leeds Utd manager, the team i support and have all my life.

I had sent my application off 4days ago and haven't had a reply, i was beginning to think that they were taking me as a joke but they a letter came through my letter box. It read:

Dear Mr Luke Sumner,

Thankyou for your application for our vacant manger position at Leeds United. We have accepted your application. We will contact you immediately on the telephone number you gave us regarding any changes.

We Thank you once again for your appliocation.

Ken Bates, Leeds Utd Chairman

For the second time today and in my whole life i felt good inside-This could acutally work for me.

June 22nd 2009
In front of my door from my be-loveded Leeds Utd lay a letter, i felt physically sick inside because my dreams could become true but on the other hand my dreams could be shattered. I took in a deep breath and opened it.

It read:
it turned out to be the best moment of my life, as i had got the job and was to be announced as the new manager on Tuesday.

I rang my mates they didn't answer, my whole life changed forever

When i woke up this morning, i felt a buzz in myself. i just lay in bed saying to myself i'm the new manager of Leeds Utd so i just lay there with a massive grin on my face. When i got on i put my best suit on had breakfast and headed to Elland Road. As i sat down in my car i realised how nervous i was.

I then thought if i could go through with this

As i drove in to Elland Road it felt weird not entering the fans car pack, but heading to reception entrance, as i walked through the entrance, everyone was welcoming me "hi, mr Sumner", a fit blonde receptionst took me to Ken Bates' office, i followed her with her hips swaying side to side. "here, he is". Ken welcomed me "hello, Mr Sumner, let me take you on a quick tour of the stadium."

As we walked along he kept asking me questions like "where do you come from ?",
"what's your background". It felt good to actually meet Ken Bates, the Leeds Utd chairman. I was about to be unveiled as the manager, you know with that scarf thing.

3....2....1... smile ,flash !!

I was now offically the new manager of the club ive supported as a boy, the mighty Leeds Utd.

Today was the day of my first press-conference as Leeds United boss, i had a quick meeting with Ken Bates for advice on how to handle press-conferences he told me to relax and be myself, even those reassuring words do not take away the nerves.

So the press-conference began:

Q1-BBC Leeds-You sit here unveiled as the new manager of Leeds, as a big fan of the club is this a dream come true?

A:definitely, i am a lifelong fan of this magnifcent club

Q2-BBC Leeds-What style of football do you like to play?

A:i will mostly always look to play succesful attacking football

Q3-The League Paper-How involved do you intend to be on a day to day basis?

A: i intend to be heavily involved in all areas of the club because of the fantastic facilities available

Q4-BBC Leeds-New managers often bring about times of change and upheaval and some might fear for their jobs, will there be changes?

A:I will take a complete evulation of the players and staff and get rid of anyone i consider to be dead wood.

Q5-BBC Leeds-You have taken charge of Leeds at a time when it is expected that Robert Snodgrass may well be leaving the club. What are the chance of you keeping him around?

A:Robert is very much part of my plans for the upcoming season, so i will be wanting to keep him around for a while.

well that wasn't so bad, i was a bit edgy for the first couple of questions but after that i was in full flow the nerves fled away.

I checked my emails today for like the first time in a month, to see a email there from ken bates, it said the season expectations- which were to win league 1 which i think is fair enough as Leeds definitely have one of the strongest squads in the league. Ken had told me that i would have a transfer budget of £1 million. I had the chance to meet my staff, who i will probably get rid of a few of them.

The players are due back to return from there summer holidays on July 1st and i am really excited about starting the season. The next update will be transfers and pre-season results.
