After my unlikely rise to the premier league, the board requested that the team battle bravely against relegation. Me being a 100% Leeds Utd til i die fan, was having none of that and stated that we would achieve a safe mid-table finish (11th - 14th)
The biggest thing that i did wrong in this season was to sign players without 1st considering the tactic i was going to be using. However, from my 4-4-2 system i quickly changed it into a normal minded counter attacking 4-5-1 formation. See formation below:
I went on to continue signing improving the squad:
Denis Tonucci (CB from Cesena for £2m) quite good defender, decent at FK's
Carlos Diogo (RB) and Ewerthon (FC) from Zaragoza on frees.
Julio Dos Santos (AMLC) from Atletico Paranaense (paraguayuan) on a free (decent stats but seemed to be very injury prone - sold him the following season)
My scout in Spain again produced another gem of a player 19 year old (Juan Luis Romero) from Espanyol (AMR) for £800k See stats below:
After starting terribly and near the relegation zone after 15 games. I decided for the radical change in tactic. Consisting of 2 holding midfielders. 3 attacking midfielders and a lone foward. Usually a pacey player to connect with the long balls to out run defenders. It is very important to have a very good defence as the signing of Tonucci and Diogo was not enough to stop the goals leaking in.
However, once the change of tactic, even at home, the slightly cautious tactic began to work. And i ended up 14th and winning the carling cup! again only god knows how. lost 3-1 at home to liverpool, and somehow managed to win 3-0 at anfield!!! Went on to beat Everton 1-0 in the final quite confortably. Only an injury time FK from Sheehan saved the extra time!!! Quarter finals of the FA Cup aswell... not a bad season back in the PL. A good target is 1 pt a game! that will keep u saffe. See image of final table. Note Arsenal's magical season!!
Also noted GK Gustavo Munua scoring 2 goals. Excellent sert pieces and penalties
