Right, the way you describe it is so confusing...

Sevilla were 3 up after 60 or so minutes, then they had a man sent off
Llorente scores and then misses a penalty, i say missed but he scored the rebound, so scores 3-2 with 20 or so minutes left and all the momentum is with Bilbao.

The outstanding Romaric then plays a lovely through ball through to negredo who takes the keeper out, but somehow wins a penalty courtesy of the assistant linesmen, Kanoute scores (his second penatly of the game) to make it 4-2 to Sevilla, effectively game over.

i tried my best, i am not english, sorry then. by the way, you're english and you failed the most important. final score was 4-3, not 4-2. Go edit now ;)

Hercules are winning 1-0 against Real Madrid. David Trezeguet scoring a header

Hercules have taken the lead courtesy of David Trezeguet......against Real Madrid!

Ronaldo with a brace and a Di Maria goal gave Real Madrid a 3-1 win in the end.

Ronaldo also missed an open goal which would have given him his hat-trick. He's in amazing form at the moment. What's that now, 6 goals in 2 games. He's got braces in games before hand aswell.. can anyone enlighten me on his record for the season so far.

Or better.. 10 goals in 4 games!!!

12 goals in 9 games in the league this season if I'm not mistaken. He was playing way below his standards in the first 3 games, but then burst into form.

that Ronaldo lad is alright aint he haha. For me at the moment he is the best player in the world and i normaly say Messi is. Ill tell you why i think this its because Ronaldo went to England tore up English football and now he is taring up the Spanish League.

he annoys me when people say messi is the best in the world it is cleary ronaldo he might be a ****, but still he proved hiself in england and spain

Totally agree, thats why i believe although i hate the guy Maradona was better than Pele because Maradona played in other leagues. I know if Pele moved away from Brazil he wouldn't have been picked for the national side because thats how they did it back then but for me that makes El Diego a better player.

Although I can agree to that in an extent, Pele wasnt allowed to leave, as the Brazilian Govt wouldnt let him as he was a national treasure sort of thing.

On Topic: Ronaldo is looking fantastic this year again, definately giving voters something to think about for the World Player of the Year.

No. I disagree with that. Pele, is the greatest footballer of all time. No question for me. If you can score over 1000 goals in competitive games, and score 77 goals for Brazil. He also scored 12 World Cup goals and captained possibly one of the greatest sides of all time to a World Cup victory.

Nobody compares to him imo, although Maradona was also World Class.

Real Madrid vs. Atletico Madrid

Sunday, 7th November 2010
Santiago Bernabeu
Spanish La Liga
- The Preview -

  • Atletico Madrid have not beaten Real since the 1999-2000 season, when they triumphed at the Bernabeu 3-1, only to be relegated to Liga adelante from 2000 to 2002.
  • Real Madrid have won 79 out of 114 matches between them and el Atleti, and losing 35 times.
  • Atletico Madrid have nearly scored 200 goals against Real Madrid in the local derby, despite the goal difference being quashed by Real's superiority, putting 260 past los Colchoneros.
  • The first-ever derby matches between Real and Atletico Madrid were in 1928 and 1929, when Real Madrid beat Atleti both 2-1 and 3-0 to kick-start a massive divide between the two clubs.
  • Atletico Madrid only one once against los Galacticos pre-Spanish Civil War, when they were victorious at home to Real 2-1.

This Sunday, league-leaders Real Madrid are to play their first local derby of the season, when they play host to Atletico Madrid, who are now three points off the Champions League spots. Real Madrid are yet to lose their first game of the season, as Mourinho continues to take pole-position, leading fierce rivals, Barcelona by a point in the tables, following their 3-1 win over in-form Hercules. On the back of their 2-2 draw to A.C. Milan at the San Siro in Milan, thanks to a late last-gasp equaliser scored by young winger Pedro Leon, now must grab three points at home to Atleti, if they are to stay ahead of Barca and continue their four-game winning streak. Having put in good performances so far, The Special One has already now established, after nine games, a strong and contentious team for the league title and, if things go well even further, maybe even win the Champions League in years to come.

It will also be a return to the Bernabeu for current Rojiblancos boss Quique Sanchez Flores, as his presence back at the 80,000-seater will be felt by both sides. Quique, who played his career as a right fullback for Valencia between 1984 and 1994, before making the transfer to los Galacticos, only to be at the club for two years, before he was to move to his final club, Real Zaragoza and retire in 1997 and pursue a now respectable managerial career, blossoming in 2001, where he took over one of the Real Madrid youth teams. Stints at Getafe, Valencia and Benfica over an eight-year managerial career, collecting two domestic titles in both Spain and Portugal, whilst winning a continental competition in the form of the Europa League last year, has bolstered his reputation in being well-known around Europe.

Real Madrid:

The 2-2 draw in Milan may have now given Mourinho problems fitness-wise ahead of el Derbi Madrileno. Ronaldo, Ozil and di Maria all featured in the European clash, but with a five-day resting for the key midfield players, they may feature on Sunday. Higuain is more than likely to start ahead of Benzema as the centre forward, whilst the anchor-playmaker styled midfield in Sami Khedira and Xabi Alonso, banking along the defensive line would seem like a fairly obvious decision for Mourinho. Despite being out of the Racing Santander match with an ankle injury, Sergio Ramos is likely to be available against los Colcheneros, after picking up the knock on international duty, following Spain's trip up north into Glaswegian territory to face the Scots in their European qualifiers ahead of 2012. Marcelo the opposite fullback.

Ronaldo, Ozil and di Maria partnership:

In what has started to seemingly blend into a powerful partnership, the excitingly young attacking three in Cristiano Ronaldo, Mesut Ozil and Angel di Maria, in a winger-attacking mid-winger bank has turned out to be one of the strongest midfields in La Liga, next to reigning Spanish champions, Barcelona. Ronaldo's role down the left hand side and swapping places with di Maria, whilst Ozil plays off the frontman, looks like a heavy-duty attack. Whether Quique Flores will switch around his formation to cater to what looks to be a difficult task in keeping down, is upto him, as he may try to adopt the approach that Hercules did, keeping down Madrid, before altering their formation and leaving gaps in their midfield.

With them being 25 and under (Ozil and di Maria both 22) the pace, technical skill and fluency of this 'attacking three' seems to be near-impossible to stop, as Atletico are still dealing with some defensive incapabilities. Ronaldo is the main threat, as usual, and his contribution to the match, should he bag a goal or two, will be music to the ears of the los Blancos faithful.

Atletico Madrid:

After making his debut appearance in a World Cup final on the international stage, Sergio 'Kun; Aguero, has now scored one goal in six games so far for Atletico, looks more than likely to pair up with Uruguayan forward, Diego Forland, as #7 and #10 look to be the biggest threats to Mourinho's side in the Madrid derby. Despite the two not having enough goals to break into the top goalscorers list past Hercules' main striker, David Trezeguet with five, the two, combined, have scored four goals in thirteen games this season in La Liga, and may well be looking to add to their respective tallies with goals under their belts.

In the midfield, Atleti's strongest wingers in ex-Arsenal wingman Jose Antonio Reyes and Portugueseman Simao, their roles down the right and left will be pivotal in providing aerial and ground service to the front two, as Aguero is more likely to drop off Forlan and move into channels whilst Real's fullback join the midfield. A 4-2-2-2 or 4-4-2 are the more likely bets in getting Aguero and Forlan to make a striking pair but, there is also the possibilities in making it a 4-2-3-1, with Aguero the attacking midfielder and Forlan playing as the all-round target man.

Atletico's midfield:

Stepping aside from the obvious, a look into Atletico Madrid's central midfield may well be worth looking at. Brazilian holding midfielder Paulo Assunciao is more than likely to be one of the two players to start in the centre, but him and a creative player would be the answerable question. Out of three options in young Spaniard Ignachio Camacho, Juventus loanee Tiago and centralised midfielder Raul Garcia are three good choices, but Quique may want to opt in Garcia, as the 24-year-old seems to have more experience, since having joined el Atleti in 2007 and having made over 90 appearances at Vicente Calderon. Garcia, accomplished in passing but also a defensively-minded central midfielder, could be the better option, as attacking down the flanks in Reyes and Simao will give them the bigger edge, in the clash, similarly to Real's attacking band.

It has been rumoured that options in Atletico's defence has been curtailed by news of Czech defender Tomas Ujfalusi being unavailable, but no concrete news has been made of late, and should be known prior to match kick-off. Other than that, Atletico's midfield should feature Simao, Reyes, Assunciao and another from the three options posed in Tiago, Camacho and Garcia.

To some, it may not look like so, but Reyes' presence on the field, especially with the Spaniard's pace, will be a bit difficult to handle for the likes of Marcelo, should he start or former Liverpool fullback Alvaro Arbeloa, whose transfer back to Spain has since been significant, since his departure from Anfield.

Conclusion:

All in all, it's well-known that the Madrid derby will always have it's up's, down's and controversial decisions, but, looking at both team's midfield, especially the flanks, it looks like there is going to be a lot of attacking, quite a bit of defending but, hopefully, a lot of goals to look back over and answer the question of whether or not Real Madrid will maintain both their four-game winning streak and their unbeaten streak after nine games in the Spanish top-flight.
