Ok yeah poor example tbh, yes the UEFA Cup and Champs league are good cup wins, however just because of it I wouldn't class him as the best manager alive. He still threw money to win the league, and the money spent developed the squad and made it stronger for the European competitions.
When Mourinho wins the league consistently/exceeds with a club without the resources a la Porto/Chelsea/Madrid then I'd class him as the best manager. But for me its still SAF.
All a matter of opinion though ey.
P.S - This is my 5,000th post and I've wasted it by creaming over Ferguson. What is wrong with me :|

My respect for Alex grew two folds now 
When you compare the achievements, you should also take into consideration how many times the manager has built a team. I guess Jose had build 0 teams. He always managed top team in the league, inspite of that spent loads loads money. I'm taking nothing away from Jose, but to call him Greatest ever is downright delusion.

Ibra was signed for 45Million Euros plus Eto'o who was worth 20 Million Euros at that time as he was in last year of the contact.
That is 65 Million Euros. 10% of 65 is 6.5 Million. I'm sure Milan have agreed to sign him for 20 plus million and also there will be loan fee too.
Jose signed Quareshma XD. It is not like only Pep has made poor signings.

I hate the man, I could sit here all day and say how much I despise Ferguson until I am blue in the face, every man and his dog on this forum knows how much I dislike him.
But to call him anything over than the best manager on the planet is absolute lunacy.
Blyndreaper, i don't understand such excitement and pride about Mourinho after beating 7 nil a team which is in relegation zone and is one of the weakest of the division, plus they had several injuries.

You can hate the man, but have to give the credit where it is due. You did that, so only my post.
Mourinho is a very talented manager, we're not disputing that. But he is not the best manager in the world. Maybe one day he will be up there. But I doubt he will ever reach the level of success reached by Fergie and Walter Smith.
This season he is excellent. The ease with which he get past his marker is ridiculous. His passising is up there with the best, i mean short passing. Only drawback in his game is his stamina and somewhat poor work rate. As Madrid dominate almost all games bar Barca, they don't need him to work like a donkey. One of the best signing of the season and he has excellent understanding with Ronaldo. Hope Kaka's reputation dont stunt his progress.

Quite an important result for adding three more points to our count and going out of relegation zone, even more when the logical result to expect would have been a defeat against Valencia.

Walter Smith is a class manager, but hes not a ferguson or a mourinho lol.
Sevilla have been impressive in the 2nd half.
