Well i will continue with my Man Utd story but i do love bringing a big team up to greatness hence why i rarely play as a big club like United so i thought i would go back to my FM Base roots and take charge of Limerick FC!

For those of you who dont know i had an awesome 13 year story with Limerick last season which was probably my favourite ever FM Save with the likes of David ***, Mark Coughlan and Terry Ryan my homegrown heroes along with my fascination with grabbing a German regen on a free with the likes of Astaris, Carpentier and Rzatkowski.

Heres the link to my previous Limerick story were by the end i was regulary making the Champions League Knockout stages and had some impressive wins over the likes of Porto and won 12 league titles in a row.

http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/foot...ager-stories/124712-limerick-fc-not-joke.html

The big difference this year from last years save is we start in the Top league already having got promoted in real life last season.

January 2013 - Winter Transfer Window

So after looking at the squad the main areas to strengthen are central defence as club legend Pat Purcell is getting on a bit and the midfield areas along with another couple of strikers.
We have lost a couple of our best players from last time round in Bossekota and Joe Gamble but we also have some players with great potential like Stephen Folan and this guy

David O'Leary - DRC/CM

Season Expectations

So it looks like the free transfer market for me and thats just the way i like it. So i brought in 7 players in total and the likes of Denis Behan and Craig Burns i signed in the previous save along with the fact i managed to bring back awesome Belgian Winger Bossekota after he left the club once his contract ended.

Axel Bossekota - AMLR

So i didnt sell anyone as our team started the season with only 14 players before i promoted a few from the youth team and brought these guys in.

Current Starting 11 and Tactic

View attachment 385793

This was taken before i brought in Flood who will probably play upfront next to Behan but as you can see the current starting 11 has 5 of the new signings straight in the team.

Up next my first games in charge

So we are predicted to not even get in the top half of the table being touted for 8th place, i think a good first season will be top half of the league and hopefully a trophy win as we are in 3 of them and the Munster Senior Cup only has us and Cork City in it who are in the top division.

So we started the month with a loss to Sligo Rovers before managing to grab a late impressive draw against Shamrock Rovers thanks to a late Gaffney goal.
We then beat Shelbourne 2-0 with Craig Curran stepping off the bench to grab a late brace and my first win for the club before going on to beat Drogheda United with Behan grabbing his first goal for the club and Gaffney scoring another late goal.

League Table

Means little at this very early stage but im glad to be in 4th and after the first few games i think a top 6 finish is well within our reach.

Young English man Craig Curran sits atop of the Golden Boot chart so far with 3 goals in the first 4 league games.

So we started the month with a draw against Bohemians with experienced centre back Liam Burns grabbing our only goal.
Behan was on fine form in the Cup game beating Cobh Wanderers and then thrashing UCD in the league who sacked their manager after the game.
We then drew with Bray Wanderers in the league and then lost to Derry City but got back to winning ways in the cup game game as we struggle to beat non league Tramore over 120 minutes.
We ended the month with a bad loss to local rivals Cork City who have also made the last 8 in the Munster Senior Cup and are favourites to lift the trophy.

Im happy in 5th place whilst surprise packages Cork City and Dundalk sit near the top of the table with Derry City having a really poor start to the season.

If this is anywhere near as good as last years, this will be amazing. Good luck, hopefully you can take Limerick back to the Champions League where they belong!

Thanks man really enjoying being back in the Irish league and how the games come thick and fast with so many cup competitions.

May Fixtures

View attachment 385590

An even sort of month as we win 4 games and lose 4 games this month as big teams Sligo, Shamrock and St Pat's all beat us comfortably in the league along with a shock result as second division side Wexford Youths knock us out of the Senior Challenge Cup whilst we do make the League Cup Quarter Final and Munster Senior Cup Semi Final as the games come thick and fast.

League Table

Up into 5th place as we almost reach the halfway stage of the season and i would be very happy if we manage to end up here at the end of the season.

So he only played twice for me but that didnt stop West Brom splashing the cash on him and we also got the important 30% of his next transfer clause in on the deal.

So i brought in 3 youngsters this month who are all very good prospects for the club.

Lee Toland - AML

Michael Barker - DRL

View attachment 385579

A good month with 3 wins out of 4 as we start the month with a win at Bohemians before going on to draw with Shelbourne, we then get impressive wins over St Pats and Midleton in the cup competitions to make the Munster Senior Cup Final where we will face Cork City and the League Cup Semi Final.

League Table

View attachment 385577

6th place and i cant imagine we are going to get above 5th place now as the title chasing pack start to move off into the distance.

Player Stats

View attachment 385576

Wahey Behan has just about made it into the top 5 in the race for the Golden Boot but Elding is far off into the distance at the moment with twice as many goals as most of the other strikers.

Munster Senior Cup Final - Cork City

View attachment 385194

Oh yes! We grab the first trophy of many i hope under my reign as Limerick boss after Gaffney scored first for us before league top goalscorer Elding pegged us back immediately.
We then had Anto Flood put us back into the league as he finally scores after joining the club 5 months ago before defender Shane Tracy scores a penalty which seals the Cup win.

July Fixtures

View attachment 385193

So we lose the league games either side of the big win including losing to Cork City who we just beat in the big Cup Final.
We then managed to beat Dundalk thanks to a late Behan goal and then went on to grab an impressive draw of St Pat's again thanks to a late goal this time by Flood.

League Table

View attachment 385191

In 6th place on equal points with 7th and 8th place but we do have games in hand on most of the teams around us.

Player Stats

View attachment 385190

So our only players anywhere near any of the stats charts is Craig Burns with 6 yellow cards and Anto Flood with his red card.

So i changed the tactic up and moved onto my favourite current tactic Shots Galore and it really has turned our form up a notch in recent weeks.

August Fixtures

View attachment 385185

A stormer of a month as we win 4 matches out of 7 this month all in the league with impressive wins over Shamrock Rovers and Derry City especially along with wins over UCD and Shelbourne with O'Leary, Behan and Curran all in amazing goalscoring form.
We ended the month with an unlucky loss against Bohemians whilst our only other loss this month was in the League Cup against Dundalk but i have one trophy this season and im not a greedy Manager.

League Table

View attachment 385181

So we have moved up into 5th place but i think we are too far behind to go for a late push for 4th place and the last Europa League spot.

Player Stats

View attachment 385180

After an impressive goalscoring month striker Denis Behan has come out of nowhere to occupy one of the top 3 spots in the race for the Golden Boot

Andy Quirke a great youth player! In 1-2 seasons will be good enough for first team :). A pretty decent intake (expect Donal McCabe)

Quirke has played a couple of games this month but im unsure if i can keep hold of him and his hefty wages (?5 a week) im hoping all 4 could become future first teamers, thanks for reading

September Fixtures

View attachment 385020

It was a kind fixture list for us as we play 4 games in a row against the struggling teams and win all 4 to put together my best run of results as manager yet with Galbraith on fine form with 3 goals and 6 assists in 4 league matches.

League Table

View attachment 385017

So Dundalk just above us have a game in hand but we do face them next and there is a very slim chance that we could make 4th place.

Player Stats

View attachment 385016

Behan is up into second with 14 league goals but hes a massive 10 goals behind Elding who has been on fire so far this season.

Oct Fixtures

View attachment 385014

So we end the season with a couple of highscoring draws against Dundalk and Cork City who were both just above us in the league before deciding the Irish Title as we beat St Pat's on the last day of the season to condemn them to second place and give the title to Sligo Rovers.

League Table

View attachment 385013

So we end the season in 5th place only 10 points of top spot after a very good first season in charge were we were only predicted to finish 9th. 5th place and a Trophy and i am very happy with our first season.

Player Stats

Behan ends the season in 3rd for the race for the Golden Boot with Edling having won it a long time ago whilst our assists were shared out amongst the rest of the team.
