October 2015 - End Of Season Stats And Awards

Limerick Squad In Order Of Apps

View attachment 381541

Top Goalscorer - Denis Behan - 24 Goals

View attachment 381536

So he didnt get as many goals as last year but he is now the clubs all time record league goalscorer after 16 league goals.

Player of the Year - Val Feeney

View attachment 381532

22 goals and 21 assists this season for Feeney who is by far the best player at the club and has even broke into the Ireland Under 21's squad and im sure he will be the first Limerick player of my reign to make the National Team.

Young Player of the Year - Thomas Maher

View attachment 381531

Well he mainly played in cup games but the 17 year old youth intake striker managed to smash in 19 goals and is surely the heir to the Davie *** throne?

Winter Transfer Window

Season Expectations

View attachment 381331

Right well i got a little bit of money but i dont really want to spend it with the youth we have coming through and the money needing to be saved up to hopefully go Professional this year, especially if we do well in the Champions League Qualifiers, Im desperate to go professional so i can sign all of my youngsters to longer contracts.

10 Players Released From Limerick

View attachment 381330

So a few big names in our former First Choice LB Robbie Williams and GK Barry Ryan but there are better players coming through the ranks and they wanted a lot of money to stay, I would have liked to have kept winger Toland but he wasnt getting game time and thats the problem with only being able to sign 2 year contracts as he was gone before he reached his potential.

So i promoted a lot of youth players into the first team squad whilst bringing in two players on free transfers, A New first choice LB and a striker/Winger with a lot of potential.

Ciaran Coll - DL

Padraig Quinn - AML/ST

Starting 11 and Tactic For New Season

View attachment 381326

So new signing Coll comes straight into the side at LB and i plan on playing Maher up top a lot this season too but our side already has a lot of youngsters in the side with most of the defense under 23 including the GK and Delaney who is only 17 looks likely to be the key to our success this season.

What do you all reckon, Can Maher and Delaney become the new David *** and Mark Coughlan? Or can they be even better

Irish Premier League Odds

View attachment 381323

So despite winning the league title last season obviously meant little to the Bookies as they predict that Sligo and Dundalk will come back stronger this season and push us down to 3rd.

Huge Blow With Feeney Out

View attachment 381322

A huge blow for our season as key youngster from last season Val Feeney will miss a huge chunk of the season and will hopefully be back in time for the Champions League Qualifiers.

Young 2nd Choice LB Out For 5 Months Too!

View attachment 381321

Feb/Mar Fixtures

View attachment 381320

8 wins from 9 to start the season in blistering form as we progress in all competitions with Behan and Curran along with youngter Delaney all on fine goalscoring form.

League Table

View attachment 381319

Top of the table after the perfect start with 6 wins from 6 and i plan on staying there for the rest of the season and the Limerick League Domination shall begin!

Player Stats

View attachment 381317

Galbraith and O'Leary both have 4 assists whilst young midfielder Delaney is in the top 3 for most goals so far this season

Coll and Delaney Out Injured

View attachment 380946View attachment 380945

April Fixtures

View attachment 380944

So as you can see we have been flying in the Munster Senior Cup thrashing al of the lower league teams we come against whilst we also managed to beat Sligo Rovers on away goals to make the All Ireland Cup Final were we will play Dundalk.
In the league we had an unfortunate draw with Shamrock Rovers but besides from that we won the other 3 league games this month.

League Table

View attachment 380943

So were currently 3 points behind Dundalk but have a couple of games in hand on them as we have been playing in so many cup games in recent weeks.

Player Stats

View attachment 380942

The players that are dominating the stats charts are the ones who have dropped out of the English leagues now there getting on a bit but can still do the job in this league with Noel Hunt the current top goalscorer and Dave Norris having the highest average rating.

All Ireland Cup Final V Dundalk

View attachment 380940

I thought Feeney had won it for us in his first game back since his long layoff from injury but they managed to grab a late equalizer.
But it was to be Feeney's day as he scores the winning penalty to help us secure the trophy, the 7th of my Limerick reign so far.

Tonkin Reaches Irish League Hall Of Fame

View attachment 380938

View attachment 380937

Its strange that i entered the Hall of Fame after the All Ireland Cup win as they do not mention those trophies in my stats for the Hall of Fame.

May Fixtures

View attachment 380936

Not a good start to the month in the league as Sligo Rovers beat us and then Dundalk manage to hold us to a draw we did manage to beat Drogheda before the All Ireland Cup Final.
After that it was buisness as usual as we win a couple of cup games and a couple of league games including Anto Flood grabbing a very late winner against fierce local rivals Cork City at their place.

League Table

View attachment 380935

So Dundalk had a terrible month in the league after their draw with us whilst Sligo Rovers are 3 points ahead of us at the top but we have a game in hand despite them beating us at the beginning of the month.

Player Stats

View attachment 380934

It seems like you only need one good goalscorer in Ireland and you will dominate with Cork City having Elding in the first season and Dundalk havinf Mehmet in the 2nd its now Noel Hunt who looks to be firing Sligo Rovers to the title. We were the only team to win the league in 3 seasons so far who didnt have the league top goalscorer also.

View attachment 380929

June Fixtures

View attachment 380928

First off Sligo Rovers knock us out of the League Cup! Beyond that we comfortably beat Avondale to make the Munster Senior Cup Final against Cork City.
We also won our couple of league games including beating Cork City again, its nice to be beating them on a regular basis now.

League Table

View attachment 380927

So were now 2 points clear of Sligo Rovers and it really is between us and them now as Dundalk have dropped away in recent weeks.

Up next one of my favourite parts of the season - Champs lge qualifiers.

So first off i signed one player on a free transfer this month in the experienced former Ireland International Jay Tabb

Jay Tabb - CM

Champions League 2nd Qualifying rnd

1st Leg V Dinamo Tbs - Home

View attachment 380625

A demolition at home as we put 5 past Dinamo with young superstar striker Maher grabbing a hattrick along with Feeney and Behan adding goals.

2nd Leg V Dinamo Tbs - Away

View attachment 380624

Another impressive win away from home with Behan grabbing a brace along with Maher getting another goal which sees us through the tie 8-1 on aggregate.

Champions League 3rd Qualifying rnd Draw

View attachment 380623

So we draw Cyprus based team APOEL in the next round in a tie i think we can win.

Champions League 3rd Qualifying rnd

1st Leg V APOEL - Home

View attachment 380622

Yes Curran! We dominated the tie and desperately needed something to take into the second leg next month away from home but it took 85 minutes before Craig Curran managed to break the deadlock.

Right so up next the domestic side of July including a Cup Final

Martin O'Neill Leaves Ireland Job

Munster Senior Cup Final V Cork City

View attachment 380615

A comfortable win with Maher getting the opener before Jay Tabb grabbed his first goal for the club as we won our 4th Munster Senior Cup in a row.

July Fixtures

View attachment 380613

So we dropped points at the start of the month in the league with a draw against Shelbourne before going on to win 3 league matches in a row including beating title chasing Sligo Rovers.
Our next league game may well be a title decider against Dundalk.

League Table

View attachment 380608

5 points clear with a game in hand and surely if we beat Dundalk next month the title will be all but ours but if they win we will be dragged right back down.

Player Stats

View attachment 380606

Behan sits in 3rd in the race for the Golden Boot whilst Galbraith and O'Leary our near the top of the assists chart.

August 2016 - Europe

Champions League 3rd Qualifying rnd

2nd Leg V APOEL - Away

View attachment 380547

A comfortable win in Cyprus with Feeney opening the scoring before Flood grabs a brace and APOEL can only grab a consolation goal as we make the Playoffs after a 4-1 aggregate win.

Draw Kobenhavn In Champions League Playoffs

View attachment 380546

Champions League Playoffs

1st Leg V Kobenhavn - Home

View attachment 380545

Re soundly beaten despite having more of the possession and the better chances with Behan scoring a late consolation goal as we all but get knocked out of the Playoffs.

2nd Leg V Kobenhavn - Away

View attachment 380544

Well we salvaged a little pride in this match after going 4-0 down at half time i ripped into the team and we managed to grab a draw after a fine second half display.

?1.7Million For Getting Knocked Out Of The Champions League Qualifiers

View attachment 380543

?1.1Million for Making The Europa League Group Stages

View attachment 380542

Well these two large sums of money have really helped the club as immediately after i received them i asked the board about going Professional and they agreed!
So from January we will be Professional which will help with contracts, scouting and signing better players and push us on to the next level.

Tough Europa League Draw

View attachment 380541

Impressive victory over APOEL and incredibly unlucky against Kobenhavn. Europa League group stages will be fun anyway, gonna be incredibly tough though!

Any chances of a meet the squad? or screenshots of your usual 11?

5 International Call Ups

View attachment 380402

So when i took over at Limerick we didnt have any players being called up so its nice to now have 5 youth players called up for various Youth International Set Ups, hopefully some can make the move up to the full National Team.

Big Offer For Delaney

View attachment 380401

Celtic offered ?4Million for youngster Delaney but im not looking to sell him even for twice this amount, luckily we have the Champions League money and i shouldnt have to sell him.

August Fixtures

View attachment 380400

Ah ******, Dundalk thrashed us in the league before we picked up back to back wins in the league to get back on track, We then dropped more points against Derry City before thrashing Drogheda at the end of the month whilst we also progressed in the cup with Maher scoring 4 goals against St Pat's

League Table

View attachment 380399

So despite dropping points to Dundalk were still 3 points clear with a game in hand and on course for retaining our league title.

Draws everywhere as we draw with Sligo in the cup for two games in a row before beating them on penalties, We then drew in the league against our somewhat bogey team Shelbourne before beating Longford and local rivals Cork City.
We also managed to credible draws in the Europa League group stages against Rubin and Feyenoord.

League Table

View attachment 380388

Its getting nervy for us now with only 4 games to go and after dropping points this month were only a point clear now with a game in hand on Dundalk.

October 2016

October Fixtures

View attachment 380317

So we started the month with an easy win over local rivals Cork City to set up the Senior Challenge Cup Final next month were we will face Dundalk who beat us for the trophy last season.
We then had a bore draw against St Pat's before going on to beat Sligo Rovers and St Pat's again in the league before getting destroyed by French team Lyon in the Europa League.
We ended the month the league season well though with an impressive victory over Shamrock Rovers.

League Table

View attachment 380316

It was a very close thought fight for the title as we retain the league title by just 2 points over Dundalk who were 13 points clear of 3rd place Sligo Rovers. We finished the season 34 points clear of 4th place to show that it was really a 3 way title race for most of the season.
