Carling Cup winners Birmingham host West Brom in the first of seven Premier League games, with Arsenal hoping to close the gap on Man Utd by beating Sunderland and several Football League fixtures too.

Come on Arsenal if we win today we go 1 point behind Utd

Team News
Midfielder Aaron Ramsey could make his first Arsenal appearance since breaking his leg just over a year ago. Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song miss out and remain "touch and go" for Tuesday's Champions League clash with Barcelona.
Injury-hit Sunderland will be without Bolo Zenden, who tweaked his calf in the warm-up against Everton last week.
But there is some good news - strikers Danny Welbeck and Frazier Campbell are back in training and should play in a reserves friendly next Tuesday.

Arsenal Team News
Doubtful: Koscielny (hamstring)
Injured: Fabianski (shoulder), Fabregas (hamstring), Frimpong, Song & Van Persie (all knee), Vermaelen (Achilles), Walcott (ankle)

Sunderland Team News
Doubtful: Onouha (calf)
Injured: Campbell, Gordon, Meyler & Turner (all knee), Cattermole (back), Welbeck (hamstring), Zenden (calf

Welbeck is back and might make the bench. Hopefully he is fit enough to start. He has impressed a lot and caused all sort of problems with his work rate. Hopefully Sunderland get a point or points..

The Birmingham - West Brom game is utterly awful. West Brom are especially bad, Hodgson's already broken down their pass and move game they had under Di Matteo.

Game of 2 halves. 3 mins, 2 goals in this half.

goals galore at Birmingham v West Brom lol

Scharner needs to calm down. He is on yellow and can't risk another.

What a goal. Morrison. 2-1 to WBA. Fantastic strike.

Well, game over. Birmingham 1-3 West Brom, and what a turnaround. Bad, bad news for Birmingham though, this was an eminently winnable game.

Bolton v Aston Villa line-ups:
Bolton:
Jaaskelainen, Steinsson, Wheater, Cahill, Robinson, Elmander, Holden, Muamba, Petrov, Kevin Davies, Sturridge.
Subs: Bogdan, Taylor, Mark Davies, Klasnic, Moreno, Alonso, Lee.
Aston Villa: Friedel, Walker, Clark, Baker, Luke Young, Reo-Coker, Delph, Albrighton, Ashley Young, Downing, Bent.
Subs: Marshall, Pires, Agbonlahor, Bradley, Heskey, Petrov, Herd.
Referee: Kevin Friend (Leicestershire)

Just like to point out that that is a team put out by Villa with all outfield players being born in England. Indeed, if Stuart Pearce had pulled his finger out Clark might well be playing for the England U21s by now, but instead he plays for Ireland. Still, how about that eh? Great team too, very happy with it, near enough our strongest. No defenders on the bench though, Collins, Dunne and Cuellar all injured. Young and inexperienced centre-back pairing, hopefully they can handle Davies.

Dont know why But I found myself celebrating West Brom scoring XD

Im confident of a win for Arsenal today, Vital points off the back of a very dissapointing result can see the lads being pumped up and ready for it.

3-0.

Kinda bad for Birmingham.. Winning Carling cup the losing 1-3 to WBA... But i am happy for Roy! He is a good manager.

Yeah, this is the kind of job that suits Hodgson. No disrispect to either him or west brom fans, but he seems to do better with struggling teams, while he hasn't found much success at the helm of bigger teams.
