Druissi Joins Liverpool in ?1.62m Deal

View attachment 428846
Liverpool have today announced the signing of River's 18 year old Striker Sebastian Druissi for a compensation fee of just over ?1.6m.
Druissi started his career at River in 2012, and has gone on to make 17 first team appearances for them, scoring 2 goals, alongside 5 U20 appearances for Argentina, scoring 2 goals.
Liverpool fans are said to be excited by this signing, who joins a range of exciting young prospects at the club, especially after Luis Suarez rocked the club by handing in a transfer request after the club failed to secure Champions League football...Can Druissi fill that gap? Or is that too much too soon?

Davide Santon: 12.75m from Bayern Munich
Liverpool have today confirmed the transfer of Italian left-back Davide Santon from German side FC Bayern
for a fee of 12.75 million.
Santon started his career Ravenna in 2002, and moved to Inter in 2005, but did not make a first-team appearance until 2008, where he played a partial role, making 16 appearances. Santon continued to make sporadic appearances, until his 5.25 million move to Newcastle in 2011.
During his time at St James' Park, Santon made 51 appearances, scoring one goal, before moving to Bayern for 11 Million. However, many have stated that was the wrong move, as he only managed 6 appearances last season, before Liverpool came in for him this season.

Having made 18 international appearances so far, 23 year old Santon is said to view this move as the perfect kickstart for his career both at club and international level.

Transfers Out (Permanent)

A number of players left on free transfers this year; they were surplus to requirements and we needed to get them off the wage bill. The more notable departures were:

Oussama Assaidi - Stoke - 3.9m
View attachment 428780
Luis Suarez - FC Bayern - 23.5m
Not a transfer i'd wanted to make: Luis handed in a transfer request after we failed to make Champions League football last season, so he's off to Bayern to kick *** there instead

A number of youth players were also loaned out to gain first team experience.

Next Update will be pre-season...as always, any feedback is welcomed

Preseason 2014

A good pre-season this year, with some encouraging performances...because of the World Cup, I only played a few games, and against smaller opposition, using the games as an oppourtunity to play the squads younger players

Gerrard to Move Into Coaching

View attachment 428590
Word from Anfield today is that club captain Steven Gerrard is looking to move into a coaching role with the club, as players such as Lucas and Henderson find themselves playing ahead of him increasingly often.
View attachment 428591
During a playing career spanning 19 years, Steven Gerrard has never played anywhere other than Liverpool, making 474 appearances, and scoring 107 goals for the club. During his playing career, Gerrard has won 11 trophies, including the Champions League trophy in 2005. When asked about his new role, Gerrard was forthcoming in his reply.

"It's a really good opportunity for me to further my career. There are players coming through now who are more capable over 90 minutes than I am, and that's plain to see. I'm 34 now, and football is a physically intensive game, especially the way we play. Moving into coaching is the way I want to go, as i've spent the last 4 or 5 years tutoring the youngsters coming through the ranks, and i'd love nothing more than to help this club improve and continue it's tradition of developing youth."

Loosing both Suarez and Gerrard in one window. That has got to hurt!
Gerrard is 35 in my save and he's still going strong fro me.

I'm keeping him around for now; he just signed a new deal so won't let me renegotiate...i'll probably give him a player/coach contract so I can still use him for tutoring :)

The thing i'm most surprised about is how good Reina's been since his return: i've had to transfer list Mingolet, because Begovic and Reina are solid between them!

Ah okay, I thought you meant he retired.

I sold on Reina myself since his wages don't justify his ability in my opinion. Still, if you're getting good form out of him, that's worth any price.

I really wasn't expecting it hahah, Begovic broke something early in the season and Mingolet was in a strop about something so I played him and i've never really looked back...

Anyways, December update coming soon, with an interesting revelation D:

This young man has this month made his debut and scored his first goal for the club, as he netted the winner against Chelsea. Touted as a star of the future, and a potential future club captain, Chirivella has stated his delight at being given the chance to break into the first team.
Due partly to the amount of games we're playing just now, Pedro is playing regularly in the league and cup ties, and giving a good account of himself in doing so; definitely one to watch!

January 2015 - Transfer Window

I was aiming for a quiet transfer window, as the squad only really needed a couple of players for depth while the youngsters developed.

Febuary 2015

Our Dissapointing run continued this month...i'm not sure what's gone wrong, as my tactics havent changed at all, apart from removing 'get stuck in' as an instruction, as we were giving away careless fouls and picking up a ton of cards.

March 2015

Essentially, this month was an unmitigated disaster. Despite winning at home, we still couldn't do enough to see ourselves progress in Europe, and we run a serious risk of not playing in Europe next season if our league performances dont improve.

I'm not going to dignify any of my players with an award for player of the month; the whole team is struggling just now, although the home leg against Kyiv is a cause for some optimism
