With Ronaldo and Tevez both leaving in the summer, there was a massive hole left. Upon starting a new season with Manchester United. How would new Manager Sam Reynolds use the transfer market to fill the void.

With a budget of 74 million, Reynolds's first signing was securing the return of a former fan favourite David Beckham for a return in january on a free contract. This was followed by the signing of a future star by the name of Iker Muniain, also on a free contract. In a busy transfer window for Reynolds there were more arrivals of stars of the future that could perhaps have a role to play in the season to come. These signings include...Marco Verratti, Douglas Costa, Diego Buononatte, Mario Balotelli, Edin Dzeko, Alphonse Areola and promising young croatian striker Andrej Kramaric. The last signing of this window is Simon Rolfes.

All the signings didnt come cheap, this ultimately meant that some players simply had to go, among these players was the sale of Nani and Park Ji Sung to Sunderland for a combined total of 12 million. Rio Ferdinand went out on loan to Athletic Madrid for a season and Tomasz Kuszczak to Palermo for 3 million.

Key players for the upcoming season:
  • Ben Foster
  • Wes Brown
  • Nemanja Vidic
  • Darren Fletcher
  • Antonio Valencia
  • Dimitar Berbatov
  • Wayne Rooney
  • Edin Dzeko
Pre Season:
Home Vs Reserves – W 3-1 - Berbatov (2), ScholesWelbeck
Away Vs Bury - W 4-0 – Berbatov, Balotelli (3)
Away Vs Newcastle Town – W 9-0 Berbatov, Giggs, Evans, Scholes, Verratti (3), Balotelli (2)
Away Vs Pescara – W 5-0 – Evans, Berbatov, Valencia, Rolfes, Dzeko. Sending off – Berbatov 10 mins
Away Vs Vicenza – W 3-0 – Rooney, Berbatov, Owen.
Away Vs Palermo – W 3-1 – Scholes, Evans, Rooney Miccoli
Away Vs Antwerp – W 3-0 – Valencia, Rooney, Berbatov
All in all a good preseason i feel, Berbatov on top form throughout the preseason fixtures, as well as a wide range of goalscorers from throughout the team, only conceded two goals. Looking good for the upcoming season...

Good Luck,

I like the layout of the story, and why did you loan Rio out he is ace but i guess you do have Vidic.

You have made some very good signings, and pre season was good to.

Stick at it.

Good Luck, i''ll follow.
You have made some good signings there mate and good results in pre-season, well done!:Dt

Loaned out Rio because i wanted Wes Brown and Johnny Evans to have an increased role in my season, so far not regretting the move

Looking good so far. Will be following with an interest. Keep at it. Good luck

Community Shield:

Away Vs Liverpool – W 3-1 – Berbatov, Rooney (2)Torres

Away Vs Birmingham – W 1-0 – Rooney
Wayne Rooney and Johnny Evans win player of the month and young player of the month respectively for august. Manager of the month for Sam Reynolds

Champions League Draw:
Group A:
Manchester United
AZ
Athletic Madrid
Unirea Urziceni
Seems quite a simple group to progress from, maybe tricky away trips to AZ and Athletic Madrid, full confidence in qualification.

Nice unbeaten record there, Dzeko looks amazing, playing Owen much?

owen getting the odd appearence here and there, but with the strike force i have at my disposal its hard for him to build up a run of games, FA cup coming up soon, so ill give him a go around that time, as well as giving more of my fringe players a chance

Unlucky about that defeat, I'm sure you'll pick it up though and go on another unbeaten record. I'm liking the way you're setting these results out btw

back to winning ways, next game is tough - away to Juventus in the Champions League

Transfer News:
Michael Carrick sold to Villarreal for 7.5 million.
John Oshea sold to Sunderland for 5 million.

After my expensive pre season transfer dealings, I needed to partly ballance the books, both Carrick and Oshea had become extreme fringe players due to my other players stepping up to the plate.

On a side note Sunderland seem to like buying my players who dont quite make it at my team.

Wow!!! You bought Andrej Kramarić?!?!? LOVE YOU MATE!!! He is a great talent in sure he make a good career!!

My player of the season – Simon Rolfes/ Wes Brown
Replacement for Van Der Sar – Foster made key errors in big games when called upon last season, perhaps a fairly young, but experienced goalkeeper needed.
Right Back, Rafael is good, but young and fairly inexperienced, perhaps a more experienced alternative for the bigger games is needed.
Players sold/ left:
Scholes, Giggs, Van Der Sar, Neville all leave due to contract expiring.
Macheda 3.5 million to Everton
Foster 5.25 million to Barcelona
Berbatov and Douglas Costa go on loan to Aston Villa and Sporting Lisbon respectively
2qGibson sold to Aston Villa for 5 million
Owen sold to Fulham for 2.1 million
Buonanotte loan to Lazio – 11.5 potential buy out
Simpson to Birmingham for 3.3 million
Beckham - loan to Deportivo
Hargreaves - Sold to Arsenal 11 million
Obertan - loan to Newcastle
Players bought in:
Batuhan Karadeniz – 8.75 million
Richard Sukuta-Pasu – 7.5 million
Fabian Delph – loan
Freddy Adu – loan
Silviu Lung Jr – 1.2 million
Rene Adler – 24 million

Players back from loans:
Adem Ljajic
Mame Biram Diouf

Appointed England Manager
Results:
Preseason
H Vs Kingstonian – W 12-0 – Dzeko (3), Owen (6), Rolfes, Hargreaves, Brown
H Vs Man Utd Reserves – W 2-0 – Dzeko (2)
H Vs Man Utd Under 18’s – W 4-0 – Dzeko (3), Batuhan Karadeniz
H Vs Boston Town – W 5-0 – Dzeko (2), Sukuta-Pasu (2), Beckham
Community Shield – Vs Chelsea – L 0-0 (4-5 penalties)
A lg Vs Man City – D 2-2 – Rooney (2)Tevez, Adebayor
: first major mistake, selling Foster without a keeper already at the club to take his place. Lung Jr not ready to step up to first team keeper, and with Van Der Sar leaving on a free contract, left bit short in the keeper department.
Keeper problem sorted out. Purchase of Rene Adler.
Need to trim the squad down, way to big, to big for a rotation team.
Beckham can not cut it at premiership level.
H lg Vs Fulham – W 6-0 – Rooney, Dzeko (3), Rolfes, Mills O.G
A lg Vs Portsmouth – D 1-1 – DzekoBelhadj

wow, as a fellow Man Utd fan I will be following religously. Very active in the transfer market I see. Unfortunatley I deceided to manage Arsenal....
