I have noticed this has been an issue with the last few FM editions, I would say that about 40% of my goals come from corners, my defenders get ridiculously high average rating as they score so many goals, its got a bit annoying and I was hoping it would be sorted on the new game, but it hasnt.

I started with Man U, Vidic had scored 10 goals in the first 18 games, just from corners, so I switch his position and put van Persie attacking the near post, now hes scoring from there too. I just beat West Ham 4 nil away, all the goals were from near post corners, its getting a bit boring! Anyone else noticed this?

Same here, one of my defenders scored a hat trick. All headers from corners.

What is your corner taking rating in Corners is?Where do you tell him to stand at corners ? And do you use in swinging corners or out swinging?...Where do you tell your corner taker to aim?

Too be honest, I dont change any set piece instructions at all. I always try and use right footers from the left and leftys from the right, so its nearly always an inswinger, but apart from that I dont do anythin out of the ordinary, it just happens with every team I use.

I might well be, but I dont really want to be scoring more from set pieces when a stupid proportion of my goals already come from them, Id love to know if any defender ever has scored a hattrick from heading in corners, but It happens quite often on FM, its just not realistic, I wanna be scoring more from open play.

I spend a whole day planning it...That way I know that if my team score it is not random...

Do you take it at near post? I didn't have much success with that, but with taking it short. Can you post your settings. I like to get as much as help I can when I play with lower league sides :)

I have found that my player attacking the near post tends to get open a lot. But when the ball is played to the near post they miss, because their heading sucks, or it is played to their feet and they smash it home maybe 50% of the time. It seems that pressuring the near post is the way to go on this year's FM.

Go read the Guide to Football Manager 2013/2014 Tactic menu and then set pieces tab...Everything you need to know is there...

I just use the standard setting mate, I dont do anything to them. The two centre backs are preset to attack the near and far posts, I play with inswinging corners so the front post guy usually gets a chance.

I use that too and I'm MK Dons, it seems to the LCB who gets all the goals. He has 5 in 8 games which is ridiculous for a CB, specially when it's Tom Flanagan and his stats are very average yet he is match rated as one of the best players in the league. It's a bug that has been going for several years, needs to be fixed once and for all. But other than corners, I can't see where my goals will actually come from half the time, that's the weird thing about it. Things definitely need to be balanced out in terms of how goals are being scored.

Ye its a problem that they just havent fixed. last season I got Crawley promoted and that was mainly down to corners, Kyle McFadzean was my top scorer for the season with 16/17 goals, my highest scoring striker didnt even get to double figures, its just not realistic.

Playing my first save as Man UTD set up my tactics without touching the set piece creator and Im currently in February with Balanta having scored 12 from corners and Vida/Evans with another about twelve between them ...

Put strikers on near and far posts and your defnders won't score so many goals.

lol were not complaining about whose scoring them, were saying that its totally unrealistic to score such a high percentage of goals from corners.

MANUMAD, who on earth is Balanta? lol

How can you not of heard of Balanta? And same MANUMAD, Balanta seems to score a ridiculous amount of goals on my save. I have the corner instructions as mixed, with both sides all inswinging, and then I have spent a bit of time telling the players were to attack, but not alot.

Score way too many, but performance wise I don't count set pieces apart from penalties for or against my result (So even when I won a game 4-1 thanks to a Balanta hattrick, I was dissapointed.)

A really dangerous corner taker would be someone with the ability to curl balls...Does anyone have such a player? And how exactly do you use him?what orders you give him to aim in corner?Do you use him only for in-swinging or also out-swinging? What is his corner taking rating is? What his crossing rating is?He is a very curious player at set pieces....

Phil Jones has scored 12 goals in 19 appearances for me. All from corners.
