LOOKING TO PLAY A NETWORK GAME BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I NEED/PROGRAMS TO USE??

Hi everybody as the title says above im looking to play my first ever network game with some people,ive heard a few people say u can play without the need for Hamachi is that true?.Im a FM veteran which is the bad thing about it,but still i have never played a network game and would like to try it out.

Any body help me and point me in the right direction at all

I was in the same position yesterday, I watched a few youtube videos, helped me out.

Theres a good link, I downloaded that hamachi straight after and it worked.
