Losing Money as Man Utd, Fast!

Hey guys, im currently in 2013.

I started managing at PSV for the first 2 seasons. After being successful there I was hired as Sir Alex's replacement due to retirement. So I took the job.

When I arrived I was given a budget of £55,000,000 to spend. They hadn't bought anyone in so the squad needed some investment as Scholes, Giggs and Van Der Sar had retired; and Ferdinand is starting to decline.

So I bought:

Mats Hummel: £13,000,000
Marko Marin: £13,000,000
Lewis Holtby: £12,000,000
Fernando: £10,000,000
Jano: £4,000,000
Sergio Asenjo: Free

Total: £52,000,000

So Budget spent, and my team is now looking strong.




I looked at the Finances and it said we had £25,000,000 in balance after spending all the money, so we weren't in any crisis.

However, after every Board Confidence Update, It said that we are making a loss of £8,000,000 per Mouth!

The main expenditure was Loan Repayments, which funnily enough costed £8,000,000 per mouth.

So I understand why I'm losing this amount of money, but I'm worried as We are now £18,000,000 in debt!


So few questions :)

1) Why did they give me this transfer budget!?!?!

2) Will I be alright after the next season? As I looked at last year Income and it didn't outweigh the expenditure of last year!

3) Will I go into administration soon? and eventually be ducted points?
 
I think you'll be fine, you'll probably be taken over before too long. That's what happens to me, anyway.
 
It's because of the massive debt repayments. If you win plenty of trophies it'll keep you at roughly break even. Just be prudent with your spending, you shouldn't need much more with those signings. Focus on younger players with potential.
 
My Man Utd team is making a similar loss, my board tend to inject cash at the end of the season if we are massively in the red. Just finish as high as possible in the Premier League and try to get some success in Europe. You should be fine; you'll probably be taken over at some point, thats what happened to me as well.

And that's before the summer where I usually get around an extra £80m income. Just spend carefully and don't go crazy on wages, I think it adds more challenge and longevity to a United save rather than just buying all the world stars.
 
Being utd, you probably get the highest amount of sponsorship money in the league... I had a similar problem with Newcastle, but problem was that I had to spend all of my budget every season to make sure my squad won stuff, it was a risk because if i failed, i would have probably ended in administration (if you can do that on FM, is it possible?), but after a few seasons i won the CL, which cleared almost all of my 30m debt, then i got better sponsorship deals, so all is good :)

Hahhah, thats right, i think that would happen in any club cause everyone is in debt, except maybe Barca, Real M and Manchester City

Oh, and Joel, can u tell me where can i get the skin u have in ur FM? Btw the skins i try to add to my FM dont have the FM tab with preferences and all the other options (quit game, save exc) they simply dont appear, anyone know why?

Oi smart-****; read what i said, i know why i'm in debt! i'm just wondering if it's a problem, in terms of the club going into liqiudisation!

Update: I'm now £40,000,000 in debt!!!! and my status is insecure!!??!?!

It's the rd5 skin. Probably just a glitch with the skin, are they popular ones you tried? Try installing rd5 and see how it works.

@123hello - You'll probably get £80m+ at the end of the season from competitions, TV revenue etc. What's your wage bill?

You should be fine. Try and trim the wages and don't spend megabucks and you'll be good.
 
okay, but surely, next year the same will possibly happen with the loans still being payed, so I'll never be able to imporve the sqaud untill the debt is paid!?!?
 
I'm sure there's scope for cutting your wage budget down, you shouldn't need many signings if you're smart and invest in potential rather than ready made stars.
 
The best plan is to buy young players cheap, and then they'll replace your older players, this way to improve your squad while the debts get repaid :)
 
david gill will clear out the debt dont worry i have a long term save as man u and i get into debt all most 100m and gill clears it in one big loan out so ur be fine
