So. I've heard that a standard 4-4-2 works well in the lower depths of football.

I am currently managing Taunton, who are level 8 or something.

I want to design my own 4-4-2 tactic. Should I play a high tempo and direct passing (so a kind of counter formation)? Or would that tire the team out? How high should I have my line? What mentality/structure? Should I play wing backs or standard full backs?

how low are we talking?

i find high tempo counter does work but lower leagues lacks Pace. High tempo kill placers they're at like 50%-60% at 60min in to the game. Direct passing is almost a must at lower league as passing of 5-10 is about as good as it gets lol. Target man over 6.1 helps win long balls. I tell my wingers when I play them to cross early and aim for him with a deep forward aiming to get the ball off him and score. Limited full backs as attackings one just cause a mess at lower league

I don't know but for 442 tactic has never worked in lower leagues and 433 tactic worked much better
