Making King part of my staff?

So I'm in January of the second season in my Spurs save and King has been injured pretty much all through the first season. He played 4 games in total and he got injured for 6 months in July just before the start of the second season. Now he just got back but his stats drastically declined as is to be expected. I just got a message that he will be retiring after this season. How can I make him part of my staff when he does? I have allready had a private chat with him telling him he would be a good coach and he was happy with that. Do i offer him a new contract or how does this work?

When you say "he was happy with that'' do you mean his staff attributes appeared? If yes, then you should be able to offer him a staff contract, if you can't then you'll have to wait til the end of the season.

If his staff attributes haven't appeared, then you'll need to have that conversation again.
