Hey all,
I didn't want to create a story thread but would love some feedback/advice on where to next. I'm a big United fan (it hurts so bad).
I've just finished my first season and did fairly well:
2nd in Premier League (pretty far adrift of City - 8/9 points or so)
Won Europa League
No domestic cups
Season 1 Transfers OUT:
Antony - LOAN
Jonny Evans - Free
Lindelof - 10.5m (left in January)
Transfers IN:
Gavi - LOAN - spectacular fail.
I really wanted to trim the fat from the squad but as many before me have found - it's not easy to get rid of deadwood earning ridiculous money. However I have totally re-shaped the squad and I think I have improved overall.
Season 2 Transfers OUT:
Bruno Fernandes - off to Saudi Arabia for 89m. Felt like this was too good for a 30 year old to turn down! I wasn't planning on selling him as he was my best player last season, but this pretty much kicked off the re-structure.
Tyrell Malacia - 32.5m. Was a good backup last year but had his replacement lined up who is a bit younger and more potential in my opinion.
Casemiro - off to Saudi Arabia for 18m. Unlike real life he played well last season but I wanted his wages off the books. Plus he was a douche and always complained.
Jadon Sancho - 34m to Arsenal. Not a fan of his in real life so my bias kicked in.
Joshua Zirkzee - 22m. He was back to Hojlund last season and when he came on he was pretty terrible.
Christian Eriksen - 15m. He actually was a great backup last season, but I wanted to focus more on youth.
*177m in after a few other small sales*
Transfers IN:
Marc Guehi - 29m. Palace got relegated and I needed a replacement for Lindelof/Evans. Huge upgrade in my opinion.
Ebere Eze - 41m. Palace got relegated . The sale of Bruno enabled this one.
Rayan Ait-Nouri - 31m. Wolves got relegated . Direct replacement for Malacia.
Reinier - 750k. Pick up from Real Madrid. Very much a squad.back/up but after a few games into my second season he is a fantastic impact sub.
Takefusa Kubo - 57m. Came with big wraps from my scouts - I needed someone to push Amad Diallo and provide more depth.
Sverre Halseth Nypan - 2.5m. Youngster who has actually gone out on loan - one for the future.
Karim Konate - 19m. Backup to Hojlund and replacement for Zirkzee
Paul Wanner - 10.5m. Similar to Nypan, back out on loan but at only 19 years old, one for the future.
and finally....I desperately needed a classy CM as I only had Ugarte and Mainoo as sufficient starters, was thinking of going down the youngster route again until this guy was transfer listed...
Enzo Fernandez - 84m (35 up front, rest in installments). Got him in on 220k p/w which is significantly less than Casemiro and Bruno.
I think the squad is pretty balanced now. Still have about 40m in the transfer kitty and managed to clear about 400k off the wage budget overall.
