Manager Wages?

Into my second season as Hull, got myself promoted but I've made the same mistake as they have done in the past year and find myself in debt - not quite on the scale of the real life, though.
My wage budget is a real problem, is there any point in manager wages? meaning, would it be a good idea to request a new contract worth £0 p/week?

With Arsenal I got them to give me a £1 p/w contract. Not sure if it does affect finances though.

Surely it affects the wage budget, the same way staff does?
I may as well go for it, I doubt there's a hidden feature that when you save enough money you can actually buy a club
