Where else is there to start on Football Manager 2016 than with the club you are most passionate about and the club that have the biggest trophy cabinet in the world.

After what has been a long summer of anticipation for Rangers fans they have finally found out who their new manager will be. Mark Warburton and David Weir have been massive favourites to take over at Ibrox for the 2015/16 season ahead. The bookmakers have got favourites half correct in this instance, as David Weir will join Rangers as assistant manager without Mark Warburton following him in the same direction. Dave King has preached how determind he was to bring in someone who was passionate for the club and do anything for the club and he looks like he's gotten his man. Passion has came before experience in this instance as Rangers have appointed soon to be 30 year old coach Craig Smith as their new manager. Smith has been in a Rangers fan all his life and has been highlighted as a very 'good and exciting' young manager. Will this appointment take Rangers in the correct direction?

The appointment of David Weir (pictured above) could really well be a big asset for new boss Smith.

Rangers season will begin in cup action as they will start their campaign with a Petrofac Training Cup match and then a League Cup Match the following week.

Petrofac Training Cup Round 1
Rangers vs Morton

Scottish League Cup Round 1
Elgin City vs Rangers

The new boss has made his plans clear right from the off with signing a young future prospect from Dundee in Craig Wighton. He'll spend this season on loan at Raith Rovers and join up with the Rangers squad for next season.

It's sure to be an interesting season for everyone involving Rangers.

Dave King holds a press conference to welcome the new managerial team at Ibrox.

Rangers welcomed their new managerial team at Ibrox stadium this afternoon and the pair were able to make some very exciting points for supporters to look forward to.

'I think this season we have got to win the league, anything else is failure. Last season was horrible and not good enough, we've got to make up for it by putting in an excellent display.' - Craig Smith

'The signings we have made are exciting and fans can expect good football this season, the shape of the team will change slightly and I think it will work really well.' - David Weir

'Obviously the Petrofac Training Cup has not been a competition we have enjoyed. This season the main aim will be the league but I am aiming to bring this trophy home with us, no silverware is poor silverware' - Craig Smith

'A young management team may seem risky, but we have got in two young guys who have a mixture of great experience and passion which I think is huge. A young management team who loves the club also puts us in a good position to hold onto these guys for years to come.' - Dave King

The Season Begins!

We Welcomed Morton to Ibrox in the Petrofac Training Cup first round. New boys Andy Halliday & Rob Kiernan hit the target to send us on our way and it's a nice opening win for us. Very dominant in possession and into round two!

View attachment 209507

It's Airdrie United away in Round two for us, Livingston vs Queen of the South is probably pick of the bunch.

View attachment 209505

We defeat Elgin away in the first round to advance, we were pretty poor in all fairness. We took our chances where Elgin were poor, not pleased to see them with most of the play. A late rally from them gave them hope but we were comfortable once we started taking our chances.

View attachment 209502
It'll be Raith Rovers coming to Ibrox for round two. Tough tie as they're from the same division but I'm confident we can pull off the win.

View attachment 209489

A really poor performance by us and the excitement of the Championship season beginning is dampened. Really disappointing and we now have a lot to do if we're going to meet our objectives this season.

View attachment 209496

Raith Rovers beat Livingston 4-1
Hibernian defeat Dumbarton 1-0
Falkirk and Morton draw 1-1
Queen of the south beat Alloa 1-0

We won't worry about the league table just yet due to us only being one game in but really disappointing not to start off with the win. We are unable to meet fellow title challengers St Mirren and we allow other fellow title challengers Hibs a two point gap on us from the start.

View attachment 209488
Alloa away up next for us and it is a chance for us to redeem ourselves travelling to a place we didn't enjoy going to last season against a club who we didn't enjoy playing last season.

Sweet. A Rangers story.

As a passionate Liverpudlian who was brought up to also be a Rangers fan (not that anyone puts anything on this these days but one City's traditional protestant club to another) before all this modern day, media lead Celtic 'connection' bunkum became the vogue; I'mma enjoy this one.

Might even have to dust off the old split L'pool/ Rangers bobble hat when your back contesting Cup Finals ha ha!

Cheers mate, really enjoying this one so far! Had a save that lasted over 10 seasons on last years game that was great!

Alloa wasn't an enjoyable place for us to go last season and we struggled a bit here, two good goals for corners grabbed us the three points and that'll do nicely, improvements still needed.

View attachment 208656
Hibs and Raith make it 2 wins from 2 with comfortable 3-0 wins. St Mirren draw again which is a good result for one of the bookmakers early favourites.

View attachment 208654
We move into the playoff places with our first win in the league this season just two points off quick starters Hibs and Raith Rovers.

View attachment 208652
Back to the Petrofac Training Cup and we advance into the quarter finals with a strong win away at Airdrie. Hat trick for Oduwa as he scores his first goals for the club.

View attachment 208650
Quarter final draws a couple of cracking ties as Queen of the South draw Hibs and we draw Raith Rovers. Tough Match as Raith have started the season very well.

View attachment 208649
A MASSIVE RESULT! May only be our third league game of the season but it's massive to get the win. Hibs took an early lead but we thought back and McKay scored a magnificent winner. We deserved the win and go above Hibs in the table.

View attachment 208648
Raith Rovers replicate Hibs and drop points for the first time this season, good weekend for us.

View attachment 208647
We Sit second on goal difference, good start from our first three games and I'm happy with our position. Fellow league favourites St Mirren have started really badly which is a huge bonus.

View attachment 208645
We meet Raith Rovers at Ibrox in the second round of the league cup, we left it late but a terrific strike from outside the box by Ryan Hardie picks us up the win! It'll be a Premier League club in round three for us and we welcome the challenge!

View attachment 208644
It'll be an away trip to Inverness in round three for us. A very tough opponent but we're looking forward to a match with our highest ranked opponents this season. Very good test for us.

View attachment 208643
We made this far too tougher than it should of been, we were dominant in possession and chances but we didn't take them luckily we get bailed out with a late winner!

View attachment 208642
Raith suffer their first league defeat of the season at the hands of Hibs, important win for Alan Stubbs men as they move above Raith.

View attachment 208641
We're now a point clear at the top as Hibs move into second. Another good weekend for us, now our aim is to improve the gap on second and make sure we stay top for the rest of the season.

View attachment 208640
It's Raith Rovers up next for us in the league, good opportunity for us to stretch our lead over them in the table and hopefully Hibs can drop points.

Massive win indeed over Hibs. Makes the opening day draw all the more frustrating but that's football.

Keep it going!

View attachment 207417
Brilliant performance from us here, very dominant. My only criticism would be us not taking enough of our chances. Raith have started the season well so a good three points for us.

View attachment 207415
St Mirren's poor start to the season continues as they lose away to Queen of the South.

View attachment 207413
Hibs have a game in hand as we go four points clear, St Mirren still yet to win a league game.

View attachment 207410We welcome Livingston to Ibrox but we brush them aside rather comfortably to now make it 5 league wins in a row.

View attachment 207408
Hibs keep the early pressure on with a comfortable win over Alloa, fellow so called challengers St Mirren lose again. They're falling away rather early.

View attachment 207403
With only 6 games played we have a 12 point lead over St Mirren who are looking in big trouble in their campaign for automatic promotion. We remain 4 points clear of Hibs who still have a game in hand.

View attachment 207397
Very frustrating result here for us, away to Dumbarton and we come across our second goal less draw of the season. Stats show we dominated the ball but gave Dumbarton far too many chances. Really poor result for us when we were hitting good momentum.

View attachment 207389
Hibs score a last minute winner away to Livingston to make for a very good weekend for them. Falkirk are hitting decent form and pick up a good win away to Alloa.

View attachment 207387
Hibs drew their game in hand which means they don't go above us so our draw with Dumbarton doesn't cost us too much although it is frustrating as we could've opened our gap on Hibs. St Mirren get their first win of the season and move off bottom spot.

View attachment 207385
We come up against last season's Scottish Cup winners in the League Cup third round, it's a huge game for us as we get a chance to test ourselves against one of the top divisions better sides.

View attachment 207383
An even game possession wise but Inverness bossed it with chances and finishing, they were the better team in the end. We picked it up towards the end and youngster Ryan Hardie scored a good goal, had we of taken one of our other chances towards the end we could've put the pressure right on Inverness but our poor finishing let us down. In the end Inverness deserved it though and I hope they get on very well in the next round.

View attachment 207381
A frustrating score line as they barely had a touch, Waghorn scores his first goal for the club and we march on thanks to Law's winner 15 minutes from time. We've got to make games like this more comfortable!

View attachment 207379
Both us and Hibs win as there is no real change to the league standings, Livingston remain bottom with 8 games gone.

View attachment 207378

Next up is Falkirk arriving at Ibrox in the league and we'll be looking to make it two wins on the bounce by defeating them. They have started well this season so we know we're in for a tough match against the team currently 3rd place in the table.

View attachment 206995
Woeful result here, we created more chances and had more of the ball but we were really poor. Our first league defeat of the season seemed likely but great spirit to fight back snatched us a draw! Nathan Oduwa missed a sitter in stoppage time but I think we've just got to accept a point after a really poor performance.

View attachment 206989
Hibs draw away to Queen of the South which makes the Falkirk result less poor but still a disappointment. St Mirren pick up their second league win from nine games.

View attachment 206988
We met Raith away from home in the Petrofac Training Cup quarter final and after a tough 120 minutes we sneak through thanks to a last minute extra time winner. Craig Halkett makes his Rangers debut and the defender finds the net! Good win as Raith have started well but we should've had this done in 90 minutes.

View attachment 206987
A tough semi final as we draw either Queen of the South or Hibs at home, makes for a very good semi final! Falkirk will surely go through against week opposition.

View attachment 206985
Hibs seal a semi final spot a couple days later as they comfortably defeat Queens setting up an exciting semi final.

View attachment 206984
Probably our best performance of the season so far as we easily despatch of Queen of the South, good win as we march on.

View attachment 206982
Hibs keep up the pace at the top with a good win at home to Dumbarton. St Mirren slip further away as they draw away to Livingston.

View attachment 206981
Ten league games gone and we're unbeaten in the league this season, Hibs are keeping it tight at the top whilst St Mirren have struggled. Us & Hibs are speeding away at the top and it's looking like a two horse race.

View attachment 206980
We let ourselves down massively by losing away to strugglers St Mirren, we were well beaten and just don't seem to play well against them! Gutted with our performance, we've got to be more consistent!

View attachment 206978
Luckily the day before we play St Mirren, Raith do us a favour with a win at home to Hibs. Yet again Hibs are unable to go above us when we stumble.

View attachment 206977
St Mirren are beginning to climb the table but are still a long way off top spot. Good weekend for Falkirk & Raith as they both move closer to the top two.

View attachment 206976
Huge game and we're 2-0 down at half time. At this stage I'm thinking we're in trouble, Hibs are about to go above us and we're not looking consistent enough to keep up with them. It looked over and from nowhere we fight back. Eckersley scores an own goal, then substitute Halliday fires us level. Moments later Templeton tip toes through the defence to have his shot deflect into the net. MASSIVE result again! two league wins from two against Hibs and these will be vital come end of the season. Great feeling!

View attachment 206975
St Mirren pick up back to back league wins for the first time this season, they're on the climb and it's better late than never. Can they make a claim for the title?

View attachment 206974
We're four points clear now and St Mirren are now just one point off the play-offs. Their season is beginning to pick up and I'm very pleased with our overall position, let's hope it continues and we stretch that lead.

View attachment 206971

Alloa will be coming to Ibrox next in our 13th League game of the season, looking forward to another test against a side we struggled against last year. Hopefully we can maintain our fine form this season.

WTF is it with St. Mirren this year? Fricking Glasgow wannabes haha.

Excellent result again against Hibs. This league is gonna' be tight all year long between the top 2 by the looks of it. To take 6 off them already is massive.

They just seem to be my bogey team! I'm going to make sure we slaughter them next league game!
