So, here's the situation: I am in a network game with a friend, he is Utd, I'm City. He's currently 5 points clear in the league. He's not doing THAT well... but definitely better than I am. My tactic simply doesn't win. What am I doing wrong? Can someone please tell me how to win with City? I've managed a league title and champions league playing with Chelsea but I just can't do it with City.

The idea is to emulate Pellegrini's attacking style:

As you can see, I also struggled playing with City away from home vs PSG. Now, I realise I've had a tough start. But, I've also had easy games too and I did NOT rest any players in them.

Any help is genuinely, greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Aidan

Your tactic is really bad. I used to manage City and easily won EPL first season and Champions Cup in 2nd season.
You have too many attacking players. You have to cover defence as well.
Try different tactic like Artisan Brazil rectangle or Mr Hough Funk. Pellegrini's tactic in Fm 14 isn't good enough to win anything.

this is a bit harsh, instead of just saying your tactic is bad, give some real feedback. pointing to another tactic thread is ok but I think OP wants to emulate pellegrini's side.

Now for OP, your biggest issue by a mile is the middle of the park, a ball winning midfielder on defend is still going to chase around all day, as will the box to box so there is no core in the team there, no cover for your defence.

If you look at this tactic http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/shar...oth-attack-4-4-2-high-scoring-flamboyant.html it is a similar shape to your's but uses a deeplying playmaker in the middle maybe you can read the thread and try to see why this tactic is working and why your tactic isnt working atm.

A few suggestions to try: use Fernandinho DLP(d) and Yaya CM(auto). When playing Bender make him either BWM(s) next to a DLP(d) or make him CM(d) when playing him in a defensive role. Like calamity said using a BWM on defend in a two man midfield is going to leave huge gaps when he goes chasing the ball. I'd also move Navas back to MR and use him as a supporting winger, and use Silva as AP(a) on the left. Experiment with forward roles i.e. Negredo/Dzeko CF(s)/TM(s) and Aguero AF(a) or Jovetic CF(a). Try and up the tempo and take play out of defence off.
