WAYNE ROONEY TESTIMONIAL MATCH

View attachment 122584

The Manchester United fans will be looking forward to this match. It represents the whole career of Wayne Rooney and although many fans, pundits and ex-professionals feel that Rooney is past his prime and set for a decline in his career now. This is the time to celebrate what he has achieved in his illustrious career so far.

Darren Fletcher has also asked to be able to play for United in this game stating that Rooney was such a great friend that he wanted to have the honour of playing for The Red Devils during Wayne's testimonial.

View attachment 122577

Manchester United and Wayne Rooney escape this match with the win. It's a win that will forever stay in the heart of Rooney but one that will not stay long in the memory of Manchester United fans. Although Man Utd scored early through a tame Zlatan Ibrahimovic goal, the game was slow, tedious and at times a real bore. United had the majority of possession and looked confident on the ball, it's just when they had the ball the play looked stale.

Rooney was all smiles throughout and will have enjoyed the game which was watched by his wife Coleen, his three children and other various family members who were all treated to a very special VIP experience. Rooney was substituted in the seventy-sixth minute to a standing ovation by both sets of fans. Everton and United fans aplauding the man they had both relied on over the years.

Manchester United fans will hope the winning mentality continues but will be hoping that Mason can get the team playing some exciting football. United face Leicester next at Wembley in the Community Shield and the fans will want the win as a stepping stone for confidence as the new 2016/17 Premier League season dawns.

COMMUNITY SHIELD 2016 - LEICESTER V MAN UTD

View attachment 122341

Last seasons unlikely league champions Leicester face Manchester United who were if anything as unlikely to win the F.A Cup on their form from last year. Anyhow this is how this years Community Shield match pans out and how the 2016/2017 curtain raiser will be.

Manchester United manager Tobey Mason will take charge of his very first Manchester United match and a plethora of players from both teams will most likely make their competitive debuts for their respective teams.

Both clubs will be hoping to claim the silverware and use the win to kick start their campaign with maximum confidence. Both clubs will be expecting stellar seasons. Leicester will want to defend their Premier League crown whilst enjoying a fairy tale Champions League adventure. Manchester United on the other hand will want to win the league, the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson left and claim the Europa League a competition no one at the club wants to be in but will feel obliged to win anyway.

A thoroughly entertaining match for every Manchester United fan! The team looked in good shape and dominated the game throughout. Although the scoreline seems like the match was close Manchester United really did boss the match. The Red Devils managed a whopping thirty shots at goal but will be disappointed only seven were on target and that only two resulted in goals. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Eric Bailly and Virgil Van Dijk all made their competitive Man Utd debuts while Paul Pogba made his second Manchester United competitive debut. Paul Pogba was man of the match and scored a screamer from twenty-five yards out. United looked confident on the ball and the passing was seamless and with purpose, something the team lacked last season under Louis Van Gaal. Tobey Mason paid tripute to the Dutchman after the game and dedicated the win to Van Gaal, stating that the club wouldn't have won the Community Shield if Van Gaal hadn't won the F.A Cup in his last match in charge of the Red Devils.

View attachment 122337A ***** in the armour for the Foxes who may have had their bubble well and truly burst by a decent looking United side. Claudio Ranieri was all smiles during the match, presumably taking in the occasion along with his players. Leicester started the match off well and after conceding, leveled the match a minute later with a Leonardo Ulloa header which beat the flailing David De Gea who must have felt the ball sail past his fingertips. Five minutes later United were back on top and now looking comfortable in the match. The Leicester fans were sensational throughout and fully deserve credit for staying behind and watching their team collect their runners up medals.

PREMIER LEAGUE 2016/17 PREVIEW

View attachment 121509

So above you have the twenty teams who will be battling it out in the Premier League this season. Last years winners Leicester will have a tough job defending their title with the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool all likely title rivals.

Leicester, Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham will all compete in the Uefa Champions League while Manchester United and Southampton will compete in the Uefa Europa League.

Burnley, Hull and Middlesborough will be hoping that last years success of promotion is not the last time they will be celebrating as all three teams will be hoping to avoid relegation.

PREMIER LEAGUE ODDS

View attachment 121506

So the bookies are predicting that it will be Manchester City's season with Arsenal again failing to capture the league and finishing in second place. Manchester United have been predicted to finish third which these days could actually flatter the club. The last top four spot goes to Chelsea who the bookies feel will be the last team rewarded with a Champions League spot.

The bookies feel that the three promoted teams will also be the three relegated teams this year with Sunderland and Bournemouth hovering just above the danger zone.

PREMIER LEAGUE TOP GOALSCORER ODDS

View attachment 121508

Sergio Aguero is the bookies favourites to end the season as top goalscorer. Harry Kane and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are second and third respectively. Liverpool's attacking midfielder Roberto Firmino is a surprise inclusion at fourth, followed by Jamie Vardy and Diego Costa.

PREMIER LEAGUE TOP PLAYER ODDS

View attachment 121507

Paul Pogba has been inserted as the bookies favourite to finish the season as the leagues top player. Arsenal's Mesut Ozil is their guess at who could be the closest to challenge Pogba for the award. Manchester United then have another player on the list in the shape of David De Gea, followed by Chelsea's Eden Hazard which after his season last year is a strange inclusion. Jamie Vardy and Kevin De Bruyne then follow up the list.

PREMIER LEAGUE TOP YOUNG PLAYER ODDS

View attachment 121505

The bookies also believe that Pogba could win the Young Player Of The Year award too. Dele Alli from Spurs is his main challenger to this conclude the bookies with Anthony Martial, Harry Kane, Eric Dier and Hector Bellerin also in contention for this award.

EVERTON V MANCHESTER UNITED

View attachment 121490

Manchester United start their 2016/17 Premier League campaign away at Goodison Park where they face off against a plucky Everton side who will be managed by the newly appointed Ronald Koeman who surprising left Southampton to join the Toffee's. This match will represent both managers first time in charge of their respective clubs in the Premier League.

Everton have somewhat been a bogey team to Manchester United in the past and it will be up to the players and their manager Tobey Mason to put these demons to rest in this match. The two teams only played each other a few weeks ago in Wayne Rooney's testimonial match but the atmosphere for this match will be totally different as each side attempts to start the season with three points.

View attachment 121487

View attachment 121486 Once again Everton became a thorn in Manchester United's side as they held the Red Devils to a draw. Koeman set his tactic up well to combat the fire power Manchester United have. Leighton Baines scored the first goal of the match, a screamer from twenty-five yards out which beat David De Gea and rocketed into the United goal. Everton were never in control of the match however and had to fight for the draw after conceding two goals. Koeman will have sighed a great sigh of relief after seeing former Red Devil Tom Cleverley slide the ball in the net
from a Yannick Bolaise cross to darw the match level again.

View attachment 1085070Manchester United again couldn't beat the Toffee's who have time and time again frustrated the Red Devils. Mason after seeing his side concede was straight out on the touchline barking orders at his team. He would have been relieved to see Memphis Depay score a curling effort just before half time and was seen punching the air with delight. Ten minutes into the second half and United were 2-1 up thanks to Henrikh Mkhitaryan who cut inside and placed a shot past Maarten Stekelenburg to give his side the lead. Man Utd were haunted by a familiar face though as ex-red Tom Cleverley levelled the match up again late on in the game.

MANCHESTER UNITED V ARSENAL

View attachment 121361

It's only the second game of the season for both sides but today we have a truly mouth watering tie in the shape of Manchester United V Arsenal at Old Trafford. The city is buzzing and the fans have been mulling outside of the stadium since about 17:00 (Friday night kickoff). The merchandise that always sells out in these games has been selling all day. This is the first confrontation between Mason and Wenger and could become one of the Premier League's newest rivalries. Not since Fergie v Wenger have the clubs had such an intense feud (Pizzagate anyone).

Manchester United will be looking to pick up their first three points of the season here today while Arsenal who empthatically beat Hull 4-0 will want to continue with their great form.

View attachment 1085209Tobey Mason will have been impressed with this performance, it was such an improvement from the match against Everton. He was left biting his nails though however after Luke Shaw gave away a penalty in the thirty-fifth minute which was dispatched by Arsenal. Luckily Ibrahimovic levelled the match up a minute later. United were never dominating possession but took their chances when they needed too. Zlatan scored again two minutes after the re-start and Daley Blind rounded the scoring off with a bullet shot to make the match 3-1. Mason left the match extremely pleased and now has his first three points of the season.

View attachment 1085210Arsenal looked dazed in this match, yes they dominated possession throughout the game and were gifted a goal but the players never looked in the game. Oliver Giroud and Hector Bellerin were particularly guilty as each player looked lethargic on the ball and nervous when caught out of position. Giroud wasted at least two scoring opportunities while Bellerin was at fault for The Red Devil's first goal. Wenger was left fuming after the game and was embarrassed when it came to the media interviews post match.

MARCOS ROJO INJURED WITH HERNIA

A bitter blow for United as Marcos Rojo will be out of action for a minimum of five weeks with a hernia. Rojo was just on the fringes of a first team spot with Mason mulling over whether to start him in the next game. Unfortunately Rojo's good form and impressive training have been hampered by this injury.

Rojo will need a slight operation to repair the Hernia and will then have an estimated recover time of around three weeks before starting his rehab before being able to train fully with the rest of the first team.

View attachment 121347

Rojo will miss out on at least four Premier League games as well as the EFL Third Round Cup match and the first match of Manchester United's Europa League group games. Both those competitions will be drawn soon so United will soon learn who they will play in those competitions.

THIRD ROUND DRAW

View attachment 121326
An exciting draw in the EFL Cup Third Round match-ups... Tottenham will host Southampton, Manchester United will play Everton again! Arsenal will face Stoke while Chelsea will face off against Crystal Palace.

Liverpool will host Huddersfield and Manchester City will play away at Shrewsbury in what is thought to be easier matches for the Premier League duo. Leicester should also be able to do the job against Chesterfield away.

View attachment 121313
View attachment 121307

The Champions League draw has displayed mixed fortunes for the English clubs as both Arsenal and Tottenham have tough groups to battle through to reach the next round. Arsenal will need to finish above Juventus, PSV and Sparta Prague while Tottenham will have to better, Real Madrid, Porto and Besiktas. Leicester however have an easier route to the round of sixteen as they face Sevilla, Dynamo Kyiv and Ludogorets.

Group A is a particularly interesting group with any four of the teams contained potenially able go through into the knockout round. Bayern are also in a tricky group but should go through. This should be a really entertaining competition this year.

(Also Man City fans if you were wondering where you guys are look below)

A big shock as Manchester City drop into the Europa League after being knocked out by Monaco in the last qualifying hurdle for the Champions League. Could a potential Manchester derby be on the cards later in the competition? We'll have to wait and see.

Four English teams have made it into this competition with Manchester United and City getting the easiest groups. Man Utd have been paired alongside AS Saint-Etienne, Maccabi Tel-Aviv and Apol. Limassol. Man City face off against SK Rapid Wien, Zurich and OCG Nice.

Southampton have an interesting group and may find it hard to qualify as they take on Olympiakos, Celtic and Konyaspor. West Ham have also qualified for this years competition and they are in a group with Zenit, Standard and Panathinaikos.

Lets hope the English teams do us proud in both this years Champions League and Europa League competitions.

BOURNEMOUTH v MANCHESTER UNITED

View attachment 121288

View attachment 121299

A visit to the Vitality stadium in good form should provide The Red Devils with a chance to show off just how good they can be. However Bournemouth have had a good start to the season and occupy one of the top four places in the league at present. The season is however only two games old and will change drastically before the season ends.

Mason will be looking to experiment in this game as it's the sort of match United can field some younger players and still walk away with all three points. Rashford and Fosu-Mensah will certainly play with the likes of Depay and Mata also getting the nod ahead of Martial and Mkhitaryan.

View attachment 121291Brilliant Bournemouth stun United as they march on at the lofty heights of the Premier League. The South Coast club dug deep for their point and frustrated United throughout the contest. Bournemouth even ended the match with more possession than Man Utd. The Cherries left it late but pegged United back after Marc Pugh volleyed in from a close range Ryan Fraser cross. The scenes of delight around the Vitality were a picturesque moment for the smaller Premier League club.

View attachment 1085285Another nightmare, another headache for Tobey Mason who has seen his team here limp home with a point. United should have bossed the game but didn't. Fellaini was certainly off colour in this game and Smalling hasn't done himself any favours with his manager. Van Dijk also went missing in this game and hasn't looked like he will pay off his huge transfer fee anytime soon. Back to the drawing board for United and Mason

PREMIER LEAGUE AUGUST OVERVIEW

View attachment 121277
View attachment 121276

Chelsea, the only team to win all three of their opening games sit top of the table. There followed by Spurs, then incredibly Sunderland and then maybe even more so surprising Bournemouth. Manchester City are lurking just behind in fifth with Southampton enjoying sixth place position. Man Utd (9th), Arsenal (11th), Liverpool (15th) and Leicester (16th) are all majorly under performing and will need to improve during September.

Talking about improving Swansea, Hull, West Brom and Middlesbrough will definitely need to improve as they all sit winless at the bottom of the table with no points. If they are not lucky they will soon see themselves stuck at the bottom of the Premier League and in no sight of the other teams above them.

View attachment 121249

Manchester United couldn't play Chelsea at a wore time. The London club are in fine form whilst The Red Devils are struggling to adapt to Mason's tactical approach. The silver-lining is that Old Trafford is the venue for today's game and the players will be hoping that the fans can help roar them to victory. United are in an unhealthy ninth position in the league with some fans bemoaning Mason's ignorance at not changing his tactics the pressure may be starting to grow on the new United manager.

With Chelsea not in any European competition they will have a quieter season and alot fewer games than some of the other teams in the league could this be a recipe for success and stand them in good stead to win the league in Conte's debut season?

View attachment 1085342Manchester United were once again the second best team in a match. Falling behind twice before Zlatan managed to equalise both times for his club. Darmian was dropped due to a poor performances in training do Timothy Fosu-Mensah started his first competitive game this season. The young Dutchman played ok but was often caught out by Hazard. Nothing really to say in this game other than United need to improve in the final third of the game and not rely on their talismanic striker.

View attachment 1085341Chelsea showed everyone just why they are currently top of the Premier League. The blues looked direct, purposeful on the ball and well organised going forward. Antonio Conte has definitely breathed new life into the club and his style has really worked on the players. Willian scored from a free kick two minutes into the game whilst Diego Costa scored a stunner from a beautiful Eden Hazard cross.

So Manchester United start off their campaign in Europe, not in the competition they want to be in but in Europe nonetheless. The FA Cup win under Louis Van Gaal has at least given them a European competition to play in this year. United will want to take the three points today against arguably their toughest opponent in their group. With results not going their way in the league this match could be a welcome distraction and a chance for Mason to try something different tactically.

View attachment 1085359Better fortune for The Red Devils in Europe as they smash and grab a 2-0 win against their French opponents. It was however almost tears again when world record signing Paul Pogba was sent off for a second bookable offence seconds before the half time whistle. United managed to re-shuffle their and scored two goals even with a player missing. Juan Mata was played through by Memphis and chipped the ball past the oncoming Stephane Ruffier in the St. Etienne goal. Marcus Rashford was also on hand to score with a nice solo effort which saw him zip past the two St. Etienne central defenders to place another shot in their goal.

View attachment 121224Les Verts (The Greens as they are affectionately known as) looked lost in this game. Even before kickoff their players looked mesmerised by the bright lights and noise being generated inside Old Trafford. With United going a man down St. Etienne were expected to bring the game to The Red Devils but if anything United re-shuffling caused them further problems. Their manager Christophe Galtier was seen screaming at his players from the touchline but after they went 1-0 down Les Verts seemed to give up and wait for the full time whistle.
