Manchester United - Life Without Fergie
5th July 2011
Football fans from all over the globe have been left reeling from the news that Manchester United's long serving manager Sir Alex Ferguson has retired. The news come out of the blue with no one expecting or foreseeing Ferguson retiring so soon. However with the Red Devils now the most decorated team in England and overtaking Liverpool as the most successful team in the League it seem's that maybe Sir Alex wanted to leave at the top of his game. The wiley Scotsman has seen his tenure at the club unparalled and seen as something spectacular. With so many football clubs disposing of managers when things get tough man Utd have shown that through loyalty and belief that one man can create so much and create it with numerous teams.
Sir Alex has enjoyed working with the best such as Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney. He has picked up countless trophies, awards and even a knighthood on his way and has given the world and especially English football so much entertainment.
Whilst the news is still raw many Man Utd fans will be wondering who the club has in line to take over the reigns from Sir Alex and who if anyone has the pedigree to follow in the Scotsman's footsteps. There have been whispers over the last year or so of Jose Mourinho putting himself in the frame but with Real Madrid keen to hold onto the outspoken Portuguese this may not come to fruitition.
Manchester United spokesman Lloyd Ingram stated that the official website will anounce more of Ferguson's resignation in more detail later
Now with the news confirmed by the club it has left many fans feeling uneasy as the the powers that be will soon be looking for a new man to take charge. With many fans only ever seeing Sir Alex in charge of the club it seems the aura around the club has become one that is shrouded in uncertainty, excitement, sadness and nervousness.
