Marleen FC new club in Ireland

Martin Eesti took the managerial position of newly founded football club Marleen FC. Dublin based club will compete in their first season Irish First Division.
Manager Martin had a fantastic chance to build up team and take some real talent to the squad from all over the world.

All players who were not Irish were brought in. What was a big unwanted surprise = Team is semi-professional and all contracts were finalized only with 2021 season. So for start of the season MarMar (nickname of the club) has advantage while bringing a lot of foreign talent into the team, but it will be one **** of the difficult task to keep players in the squad after this season.

Marleen FC is on of the favorites to win the League 2021 season

There will be 32 games. Teams play each other 4 times. Winner gets automatic promotion and 2nd to 5th team will have promotion playoff.
Very good option in this league is to use 5 substitutes per game. Gives opportunity to give playing time for more players and reduce risk of injuries.

Marleena Stadium is located in Dublin and has only 925 seated and overall capacity 3200. Marleen FC is renting this stadium and each year pays 15.4k £ for the rent.
Training facilities are Adequate and Youth facilities basic. A long way to go for state of art level.

Manager Martins first task is utilize young foreign talent and get to the Irish Premier League. Also to get good scouts for getting great players to Marleen FC.

Martin Eesti overview of the season. It was a great success. We managed to win league and also League cup. Superb start for first season. Besides all the fantastic news about the achievements in the football field we struggled to keep our best players because they earn too much money and we could not offer them same conditions on the salary level. So

All 3 of them were integral part of this season success. And further more several key members of first team are considering option to leave Marleen FC.

Waiting for 2022 season already and want to become a professional side to attract at least some players to join MarMar.

JANUARY 2022​

New season starts soon and beginning is tough. We have lose already 4 of our key members and managed to get 1 good striker on loan deal from Newcastle

Marleen FC will compete in the highest level of football in Ireland. Irish Premier League

36 games and teams play each other 4 times. 3 substitutes allowed per game.

Preseason overview indicates that we have no business in title race. Marleen FC is going to fight against relegation.

Martin said that club board unfortunately rejected his request to become professional side. They claimed that it is too risky financially and all his facts were thrown down what backed the usefulness of being professional side. It is sad that we will be only team in Irish Premier League who is not fully professional.

One thing is clear, club board is following the financial situation closely and we do not have good prospective on this side. Marleen FC will go in debt. Salary cap is very high 60.6k £ per month, but we produce minus with our current 11.5k £ actual salary level.

1) We need to loan or sign players for our team. We do not have depth in our team and if the suffer injuries it will look awful.
2) Trying to figure out how we should build a strong financial base so that club board would agree to go professional

OCTOBER 2022​

Martin : We managed to finalize Jan Majcen deal with 170k £. This was a huge boost for our finance.

He was very useful player for us. Not a star player, but always managed to perform in decent level drop offs were not his thing. Wish all the best for him and his new club Maribor.

Martin: Also after extensive search for players we managed to sign 9 new players and all together in 2022 season 10 players.

Martin Eesti: Marleen is starting new season in February and our team is going to be improved for this season. So far only 20 year old DC Maissa Ndiaye was signed in December. He is a great addition to our defense line

Martin Eesti: Not only me, most of the squad and staff would really like to turn Marleen FC into professional side. So far we are lacking finances and support from club board. Requesting at every possible moment a chance, but they refuse so far all of them.

DECEMBER 2023

Martin Eesti: Marleen FC managed to do a magnificient season and finish 2nd in Irish Premier League. The foundation of this tremendous success is transfers me and the scout team were able to find and sign. We loaned 6 players and all of them played very important part of good results we had. Below 2 are most useful Camara striker and Mergl goalkeeper.

After the first half of the season started another transfer period and before the start of it our 2 scouts did extensive search for younger players whos contract was going to end in July. We managed to sign 9 players and all of them valuable for the first team. I bring 3 of the best out here. Saco great DM, but mostly playing for CM for MarMar, Sinisalo GK good addition, but personally I was not happy with his performances. And for last 17 year old Spanish lad Juanes out of whom Marleen FC is looking a lot of goals in the future. So to sum up first half of the season loanees and second half of the season free transfers

OTHERS FIXTURES

Martin Eesti: Marleen FC won the Irish Senior Cup. Final game was rough and our DC Andi Hoti finished with lovely header in overtime 107th minute and this was enough to secure the trophy. Great feeling. 2nd in the league and Cup victory.

Martin Eesti: We have a good chance to play and gain reputation in Europe this season. Club board refused to become a professional side twice in 2023. Very disappointing but clear, because financially we are not able to back down our aim. I want to bring money through the success in Europe, but this far fetched option. Second option would be selling someone, but there are almost slim to 0 interest for our players so far.

MARCH 2024

Pre season is over and 4th of March first League game waits Marleen FC against Dundalk

Irish Premier Division has moved up 3 places in Europe Leagues from 78th to 75th. Dundalk has aquired 3 players for hefty 630k £, included one player from Marleen FC. They are also considered favourites of winning the title. Marleen is set 7th in the list by the media.

Martin Eesti: We are satisfied with this deal. Lukas was good player, but we needed to ensure financial stability and 150k £ for him was a great deal. Even if he will play for our fierce rival Dundalk I believe that we can find better LB for MarMar.

IN​

Martin Eesti: Only 16 year old winger who looks very promising. He was an amateur and after 1,5 month talks we managed to secure the deal with this great young lad.



TEAM OVERVIEW

Martin Eesti: We have very young squad, but this is what I am hoping to build up in the future. Already 3 STAR PLAYERS 18 year old striker Tomas Juanes and 23 year old DR Travis Johnson and 21 year old CM Coli Saco. And beside them also bunch of very solid youngsters who will hopefully show good development in 2024 season. We need to find replacement in LB position after sale of Lukas to Dundalk.

FIXTURES until June

Martin Eesti: First half of the season was very good. From beginning of the March until the end of May Marleen FC lost only 3 games, tied 4 games and won amazing 13 games. We were fighting for title and doing great.

Martin Eesti: This was a crazy game and our defense was awful we let 5 goals in. But good thing was that we converted 7 chances and won the game.

FIXTURES until the end of the season

Martin Eesti: 2nd half of the season on the other hand was not so bright. Specially summer months June and July were disasters. We fell out of Europe against Tobyl and the away game in their home ground was total domination on our side, but we failed to score and they used almost all of their counter attacks and scored 4 goals. This was a clear disappointment not only because we failed to bring glory to Irish football but also by financial wise. I was hoping to boost Marleen FC budget with reaching at least few rounds further, but not we failed and very important boost was lost. In July league lost game against ST Pats was miserable, but the season worst game was against Drogheda United were we lost to the last team of the league. In August MarMar established a good form again and although losing against Bohemians and League winners Dundalk we grabbed 4 wins that month.

Martin Eesti: I decided to sell our main GK Viljami Sinisalo to IFK Marienhamn. Mainly because we managed to sign new GK who should of been much better by scouts reports Mikki van Sas. Dutch young lad was player in Manchester City and was loaned out to Lommel SK before he was released. I thought he was a bargain, but after signing him we maintained losing form in league and Europe. So it was not wise deal with Sinisalo. Other huge deal was selling Unai Beitia to La Nucia for club record fee 400k £.

Martin Eesti: Last season Camara was very good loan for us, but after getting him from free transfer market his performances have been below par. 10 games as a striker and no goal so far.

Martin Eesti: First half of the season have been delightful. Lately too many losses, but going to summer Marleen is leading the Irish Premier Division. St.Pat´s Athletic and Dundalk closely behind us chasing the title. We fell out of the League Cup in already second round.

Martin Eesti: Astonishing achievement for Marleen FC. We are the CHAMPIONS of Ireland!! And further more we managed to reach to the Euro Cup II Third Qualifying Round were we meet strong Romanian side FC Rapid who eliminated us. And on top of all these wonderful news we defeated in Irish Champions Cup Linfield and Marleen FC was crowned as ALL IRELAND CHAMPION in 2025

Martin Eesti: I still did not understand how we managed to loan this great young lad from Lazio? Well to make a deal went really quickly. After scout report it took less than 4 days to complete the loan deal. Fantastic winger and attacker with 20 games amazing 11 goals and 11 assists.

Martin Eesti: 17 year old Juan Pablo Gabarri was the best bargain of the 2025 season. Perfect youngster to Marleen squad and even though he did not perform well in every game he has loads of potential to improve his skills and performance level. I do not know why Numancia let him go for free. Paying him lucrative salary (compared with MarMar salary levels) 5.25k £ per month

Martin Eesti: Need to thank once again our scout to find this young 18 year old lad. Best DC and he performed outstandingly this season. I would love to extend the loan deal for him.

Martin Eesti: Foreign talent from Argentina did not perform as I would of hoped but he has really impressive skills and when he gets into a good form he will be a huge threat to goal. 2 goals in 10 games

Martin Eesti: Only noticeable transfer was a huge fee 350k £ deal to Dundalk. Martin Švidersky played a big part for Marleen FC league win, but now money talks and he is helping Dundalk.

4) Improving coaching and scouting team. Most of it is waiting after we have turned into professional side.
5) Financially build strong foundation for the club. Hoping to get few forward in Europe. This should be enough boost.

FIXTURES until June​

IN

Martin Eesti: Very good DR for us and Wrexham did not used him so we made a huge profit out of him selling and later buying him back. And he has performed outstanding level. His marking and tackling skills are lacking quality, but he provides good help in attacking side with his really good pace and acceleration + good crossings.

Martin Eesti: Simon has been performing very well and in the end of June his loan contract will end. I already tried 3 times to extend the loan deal, but player is not willing to do so. He is the core strength in our back line. All other loan deals what were presented in the beginning overview are below par performers. This is the main reason we are not topping the league table.

Martin Eesti: Tomas Juanes was a huge loss. Very creative providing goals and assists. He was good as a winger and striker so very useful member of our team. Missing him and his goals/assists. He did not want extend the contract and last season I did not want to cash him because we were trying to become champions of Ireland (which we managed to achieve with his help) and I think I did correct decision. Yes we would of got few hundred thousand of £, but league title was worth much more. Wishing him good luck and maybe one day he will rejoin MarMar

WIGAN offered job interview for Marleen FC manager Martin Eesti

Martin Eesti: It was first job interview what was offered to me after taking job in Marleen FC. I kindly rejected the offer. I have a lot to achieve in Ireland. Wigan was fighting against relegation in March when they did offer for me. Happy that they managed to stay clear of relegation at the end of the season. With 1 goal difference

MID SEASON OVERVIEW 2026

1) Turn into professional side. Rejected 2 times

2) Transfer market. Need to find replacement for Juanes and get some additional players in order to succeed in league and Europe
3) Irish Premier Division. Going to compete for title. Currently 3rd but only 4 points behind leaders.
4) Champions League. Not yet clear who Marleen FC will compete against in preliminary rounds, but trying to get through at least first opponent and give good battle against whoever we will be drawn against.

DECEMBER 2026

Martin Eesti: After awful summer in the league we could not compete with Dundalk great form. Finishing 3rd is not what we were hoping for. Building up for next season.

EURO CUP

Martin Eesti: This was a great overachievement. After league disappointment this a cream on top of the cake for MarMar fans. The great success story brought us in good Euro Cup group E where Marleen FC did very well. Yes in fact we finished last with 6 points, but we scored 11 goals and conceded 11. Got 2 superb wins againt Genk and Braga. But strongest result of the season was for sure against Croatian side Hadjuk. We won 3:0 away game against them. In home we lost 3:4 but we sealed with these games big cash injection and group stages games for Marleen FC.

Martin Eesti: Lottery win with this young Scottish lad. Perfect attacker and also right winger who we were searching for. Did not break the nets in League the fashion I was hoping for (4 goals in 11 games), but in Continental level he was irreplaceable. 9 goals in 11 games. SUPERB SIGNING

Martin Eesti: I was indeed super happy when he decided to give his signature for Marleen FC after leaving free transfer from Moreirense. Same topic with him in the league he did not managed to shine as he should. But sure he will do it next season. I have great plans with this 20 year old Portuguese midfielder.

Martin Eesti: We really needed to strengthen the defense line and he was fairly cheap option (only 425 £ per month) and he justified my decision to sign him. Young 19 year old Comorian defender was released by OGC Nice.

Martin Eesti: Another very good addition for our club. Only 18 year old Hellewell was released Newcastle. Looking great things from him in the future. Managed to perform decent level and was going stronger in the end.

Martin Eesti: Ben was released from Manchester City academy. Well they have abundant choices to each position and this suits well for us, because he is a bargain. He is not yet first 11 player, but I believe if he keeps developing he will take RB position next season. Very good potential scout told that if he fulfill it he would be good signing for Premier League teams. He is aggressive and brave player who has impressive team player and has brilliant natural fitness level what keeps him going full 90 minutes + extra time.

Martin Eesti: Only bigger transfer. Got good 300k £ for him and now this Welsh youngster will play for Dundalk. He was 4th in CB position so getting quite lucrative offer from Dundalk did not give me lot of options. He had very good statistics from games. Hope he does not continue this form when he plays against us next season.

Martin Eesti: Ndiaye was 24 years old and played 100 games for Marleen FC in league games. 120k £ was relatively good offer. We brought in Hellwell and Boura who should be better than him.

Martin Eesti: We have already played 2 games in the league. League started earlier.

FIXTURES

IN

Martin Eesti: Very young and talented French player Hayden Woolley joined MarMar with loan deal. I am seeing him as first team regular. Why else I accepted huge loan fee 100k £ per season.

Martin Eesti: Our new chief scout Vicente found this gem from Scotland and we had to pay only 22.5k £ him. I am looking good things from Williams. Together with another superb signing Stevenson from last season they make a strong Scottish duo in front.

Martin Eesti: Really happy to announce new Chief scout Vicente. He has got a lot of experience and will lead to greater signings I am most certain of this. Old chief scout was released. His judging potential was 9 and judging ability 10. So quite nice increase

MARLEEN FC TARGETS FOR 2027 SEASON

1) We turned in the end of last season (December 2026) to professional side. Huge success. Now looking new coaching stuff
2) Irish Premier Division. After below par result last season (3rd place) I want to focus winning the title.
3) Europe. Same target as last season. To play good football and reach few rounds forward. Its more difficult, because we do not start from CL but lowest Europe league.
4) Improve training and youth facilities. We have financial strength to do it (last season Euro Cup success "Group stages and 2 wins")
5) Transfer market. Find good bargains and if really good offer comes in for our players maybe sell 1-2 players. Most important is not to lose key players before we get good substitution for him.

FIXTURES until JUNE

Martin Eesti: We have not played badly and few losses of course bumped into, but Dundalk is playing superbly and nearly ever losing points. Even if we are playing at the same time and I closely monitor what is going on in their game then this is usual. They are behind in 85th minute and by the 90+4th minute they are leading and bagging another 3 valuable points. We are doing our best do make their life uncomfortable and hopefully clinch the title. Summer transfer season starts soon + Euro games. Scouting is doing huge load of work to sort out and find best young free transfer options on the market.

OUT

Martin Eesti: Djebali played 110 fantastic games for us and scored 34 goals + 21 assists and 5 MoM. This season he was not showing best form and younger talented players took his first 11 position. 160k £ offer from CS Chebba was enough to let him go.

IN

Martin Eesti: One of the best signings that Marleen FC have ever finished. Super promising and already excellent addiotion to our team. After signing Wolff I had argue with our key GK Mikki Van Sas. Dutch lad wanted to be key member and nr1 GK in the team. I could not promise this and he was sold afterwards. Looking good already with half a season where he managed to keep 8 clean sheets in the league in 15 games and conceded only 9 goals. Also in Euro cup superb performances.

Martin Eesti: We payed hefty fee 165k £ for him. Tipple and Catto our best DC are loanees and I needed more depth and strength to the team. In League he performed well scored 1 goal in 13 games and named even once MoM. He is getting very high salary compared to others in MarMar, but chief scout promised me that he will improve in next years. He will start to shine and will not only dominate in the league, but also in Europe. Will see about that by on my personal point of view really happy to capture him

Martin Eesti: Club record transfer fee 300k £ and after half of the season I can tell every penny well spent. Super form in the League 13 games 8 goals and 9 assists. I use him as AMR.



OUT

Martin Eesti: Kevin was surplus in our team. I was hoping to get much more out of him so 135k £ was a blissful offer from Ascoli. He has the skills, but somehow they do not work in real game.

Martin Eesti: Mr Sas left because he did not want to play second violin. I really want to thank him for 109 games he played for Marleen FC in the league. Hopefully he will have better seasons coming because in Willem II his average rating and statistics are awful or not the standard they were in MarMar

Martin Eesti: WE bought Ondo for 300k £ and Camara sparkle faded this season with 6 games only 1 goal. Only 76k £, but for keeping good atmosphere in the dressing room it was mandatory sell. Overall statistics in Marleen FC impressive 87 games and 37 goals + 7 assists

Martin Eesti: Zach Awe was Arsenal youngster who accepted Marleen FC offer already in 2022 season. Played very important role in winning the league for the first time and holding defensive lines in order. Now he can play in much higher level and show what he is capable of. Super 129 games and 5 goals + 7 assists for Marleen FC

Martin Eesti: Travis is sold for the second time by Marleen FC. We just had too many RB and wanted to give chance for younger players to develop





FIXTURES

Martin Eesti: As you can see we did very well in Europe and in the League. Somehow we managed to lose in Munster Senior Cup final with penalties. But this is the competition where players who do not get much playing time in league games participate and get their match day practice.

Martin Eesti: We clinched the title with comfortable lead against Dundalk. Their second part of the season was failure and ours were pure success. This is second title for Marleen FC in Irish Premier Division

EURO CUP

Martin Eesti: I consider Euro games successful. We managed to get from First Qualifying Round to Fourth while defeating CFR Cluj. Spanish team Vigo was too strong and with away game 0:3 defeat did not give us much options to qualify for next round. We gave superb fight and won in home soil 2:0, but it was not enough.
