Pre season summary:
West Ham have ended their pre season in style with a 2-0 win over AC Milan at Upton Park, with Riquelme and Noble both scoring the goals for the Premier League side. West Ham also had some convincing wins against lower sides, although they may be a little disappointed with a 1-1 draw vs West Brom away. Max King was quoted on his side's pre-season by saying - "I'm very pleased with the overall performance of the side in the pre-season, we showed goal scoring ability in most matches, and also our ability to defend, with us only conceding 3 goals in 6 games, so a ratio of 0.5 goals conceded per game is good. Obviously the highlight was the win vs AC Milan which is perfect timing seeing as we play Chelsea away first game of the season, it will give us more confidence against top sides".

Melchiot completes £2.5m move to Upton Park:
Mario Melchiot is the newest player to join 'The King Era' by signing for West Ham for £2.5m from Wigan. This deal nearly had a weird twist, with Jonathan Spector on the brink of joining Wigan for £2.5m, until he rejected the contract offer presented by Wigan. Melchiot was caught for an interview on his move to Upton Park and said -
"I'm delighted to join a club like West Ham, it is a great opportunity to for me to make my career go further and I think I'm up for the task ahead of me. I am experienced in this division and have played for several teams in this league so I know what I need to do to succeed". On the other hand, Jonathan Spector was not so happy in his interview with
Sky Sports - "I'm annoyed. I thought that Wigan would respect my ability a bit more than what was shown in the contract you know. I mean, since when does a player who is in the United States of America national team get treated like that? I deserve better, and Wigan can shove it where the sun don't god **** shine". A few Wigan fans outside the DW Stadium where the interview took place where chanting "Yank!" several times at Spector, FA action will not be taken though.

King on the look for the new 'Muntari':
Max King has spoke of his desire to find 'the new Sulley Muntari' after admitting he is a keen admirer of the Ghana international. Sulley Muntari who now plays for Inter Milan after playing for Premier League strugglers Portsmouth for a successful season in 2007-2008, is thought of highly by Max King who see's him as the 'complete defensive mifield playmaker'. Muntari brings excellent passing, crunching tackles and a no hold bars attitude to football, which King clearly admires. West Ham gaffer Max King is reportedly looking at Athletico Madrid wonderkid Ignacio Camacho on loan for the season, with a view to a permanent move after injury scans on Hammers midfielder Radoslav Kovac showed he would be injured for around 2-3 months and with no other real ball winning midfielders apart from Scott Parker in the West Ham squad, King will looking to reinforce in that department.
