I finished my story to the thundering sound of applause, cheers and wolf whistles. Smiles and fits of laughter filled the room, today’s exercise was defiantly a success.

Of course it was all fabricated, well not all of it, I did sum up my brother and sister fairly well. He was indeed just like our mother and my sister, god bless her soul, was never out of trouble.

Wither or not the players believed my story, (which I personally think could have bettered the majority of children’s movies). It boosted spirits and that’s what I was aiming for, that and a sense of togetherness between the lads.

I arranged this team building exercise after our usual training schedule, gathered the players and staff in the canteen and we sat and told stories from out childhoods.

Living alone gives me plenty of free time and over the last few months I have been researching methods and techniques that would allow me to bring everyone closer together.

With only six weeks left in the season and a twelve point gap separating us from our nearest rivals Granitas, I am hoping this will help avoid complacency and worry that will perhaps be running though our loaned players heads.

Not knowing where your future will be in just over a month, at such a young age for most of them, will be difficult to shake from your thoughts. Hopefully this will ease the tension for everyone and allow us to push on and win this division.

Today we travel to Kaišiadorys, Home of Savinge. Kaišiadorys is based in central Lithuania, Right between the city of Vilnious and Kanuas. As we travelled past a large oval building, Eddie proceeded to tell me that it was the Lithuanian Vet nary centre and how his wife (a vet) worked there for eight years.

Savinge 0 – 3 FBK Kaunas

Another comfortable win in front of a modest crowd of 456, the home sides fans clearly feel the season is over and wanted to avoid what looked and was an inevitable ‘drubbing’.

I gave a rare start to on loan Croatian Milan Prso, The bulky forward bagged himself a hat trick which would earn him a run in the team from now, until the seasons end.

Granitas win at home to Vidzgirls (yes that is there name) keeps us twelve points clear, with only five weeks remaining.

If I'm honest, I've started to care more about the side plots than the football.
What's happening to me? 8-|

You've been infected with Sirkitis :p
I've said it before, and I will now say it again: great story mate, just brilliant. And congrats with the most likely promotion.

thanks guys, hoping to end things with a bang too :p

Readers-End of season finale and thread closure will be tonight. Then i will decide how/if i want to carry on

Plan on putting the whole story together in a closed thread without all the comments for anyone to read.

Sounds like a good idea Kris, really though, ever thought of writing a book? You definitely got what it takes mate.

As I paced up and down my office in a panic, I glanced to my left to see Mila looking ever so slightly ****** off.

'Why did I ever agree to this' I panted

'I hate the media, hate it, hate it, ****** ******* hate it!' My tone now growing more with agitation and discomfort.

'Listen, calm down, It's going to be fine. You have spoken to the press a million times now, Why are you so afraid about going on television?' she asked.

'What if I speak too fast, what if i look stupid, what if I accidentally swear or talk out of turn or what if...' Mila stops me as I start to lose control

'you told me you had to fix tanks and all sorts in the army under pressure right?'

I nod.

'Well, why can't you sit in front of a camera and talk to some overdressed and over gelled pundit about a game?' her tone arose with frustration.

The phone rings, interrupting what was now becoming a bleep test with all the panting up and down.

'Your car is here for you, good luck' she sighed.

I took a shot of Jack Daniels and headed out for the car.

Today is cup final day. Suduva Vrs Vetra

It was Vetra who knocked us out on a cold and miserable day in September. They are also top of the A league and look likely to secure there first ever title.

Sudova's story is slightly different, they have had a very mediocre season, with the cup run there only solace.

# # #

I was approached by the studio director just four days ago. They had planned on having Arsenal Kiev winger Davidas Cesnauskas but he has taken ill. In a rush they called my chairman.

I was very hung over at the time and it was ******* it down with rain at the training ground, the hard wind made my head worse and I wanted the man out of my face. **** drink.

What really took the biscuit was that the final would be held at our ground, The TV studio however was on the other end of the city. So I had to leave the venue of the match to go to an almost empty room and watch it on a small TV.

# # #

Sudova 2 - 0 Vetra

A decent match, with a some what shocking final result. Over 4000 fans were at the match, I have never seen the ground so full.

The whole event went rather swimmingly. I cracked a few jokes and gave my opinion on the matters at hand. The Slovakian Jamie Redknapp ? doubtful.

# # #

At the end of the match they turned the attention over to Kaunas and myself, spoke of the great job I was doing and how it would be 'One step closer to where Kaunas belong' if we are to win the league next week.

This sent shivers down my spine, In just under a year I have went from coaching kids in Moscow to practically guiding FBK Kaunas to the title, all be it an amateur one...for now.

Next weekend is huge.

Friday 30th October

FK Lifosa Vrs FBK Kaunas

I didn't touch a drop of alcohol last night for the first time in months, I had to be sober this morning, no excuses. Today is the day we get out of this Friday afternoon league.

I spent the previous evening watching inspirational Hollywood movies, hoping that somehow I would find the words to encourage my players tomorrow. So often in sport we see teams and athletes fall at the final hurdle, sure it's an extremely small hurdle now but i refuse to play a game of roulette at this stage.

All of my, no. All of our hard word has lead to this game and only 90 minutes and FK Lifosa stand in our way.

# # #

Kadainai Stadium, 1500 sell out crowd, TV camera's at this ground for what could be the first time. Everyone from the media to the local shop keepers were here to see the mighty FBK Kaunas lift the title, or have there hopes crushed for another week.

I gave what seemed like an extended interview with the media vultures before kick off, seems like today is the day they attempt to swoop down on me and finish the job. One smug ******* even suggested I was merely the custodian, cleaning up the mess that will allow a big name to take the job.

# # #

In all honesty, I did not think the guys needed to be reminded what was at stake. I tried by best to stay calm, confident and authoritative.

'Lets go out there and enjoy ourselves, It's just another game. If we **** up, you never know, Granitas might lose and win the title for us'

They laughed and looked at me with confidence

'Now get out there and show 1 League and even the ******* A league what we are made of' I roared at the top of my voice.

# # #

'82 minutes gone and it's still 0-0, Lifosa are going strong and refuse to allow Kaunas time on the ball'

# # #

'A sense of frustration is clearly showing now as Kaunas boss Sirk Noskcaj tells Croatian striker Milan Prso to get ready to come on'

'Get out there and win us this title Milan, Tell Tommasak not to be afraid to run at them, they will gave and back off for him' I issue my instructions as Milan enters the game with only eight minutes left on the clock.

# # #

'And it's the on loan Czech winger Petr Tommasak, he's had a difficult day here today Roman, oh wait he has beaten his man, plays it into the box, cleared.

It's only gone as far as Prso,he strikes it first time, deflects off the defender and ohh it's bounced over the keeper. Kaunas have scored.

Noskcaj is off his seat and on the pitch with the players in celebration, Kaunas have won the league and will play in 1 League next season'

# # #

The celebrations went long into the night, fans and players a like painted the town red. We had done it.

We sang songs, signed autographs and the city partied long into the night.

# # #

I arrived home, sober as a judge. Had to set an example for the players. The clock read 3:20AM

'Jesus' I have not partied until this time since my early twenties.

I turned the answering machine on and listened to the thirty or so messages from media, fellow managers, the board, my brother,sister...Mila

'Congratulations boss, It's been one **** of a year, Sorry I couldn't make it out, had to look after my sister. See you Monday...mwah' I grinned

'Hello Sirk' I had to double take as I heard Selma's voice over the machine

' I just wanted to say congratulations and I always knew you were destined for great things, I know you must be busy. I just called to wish you all the best... I miss you'

Deflated I walk to the kitchen and pick up my hidden bottle of Jack from under the sink and take a long drink.

I lay on the sofa, sigh and continue to drink.

Fin.
