I have started my second game on FM12, with Hartlepool, and played a narrow 4-1-2-1-2 formation with control, and everything else mixed/middle.
Managed to get into 2nd place, 10 points clear of third, and only a couple of point's off 1st by Christmas, and was scoring quite a lot whilst keeping lots of clean sheets (best defence in league, and 3rd best goals for, and not uncommon to win games by 2 or 3) but then I hit a poor patch of form, and ended up regaining second on the last game of the season, some 20+ points off first (I ended up with second best defensive record, and 7th best goals for, and results where lots of draws, and 1-0's).
I was wanting some advice on why this happens, and how to avoid it, could it just be the opposition sussing out my tactics, or should I adopt a more direct approach in the winter months, or perhaps a little more rotation was what was required.
Any advise would be appreciated.
