hi all, was thinking of starting a new prem game and was trying to think of someone tottally different thought of city for the money but that would be boring not really a challenge, so after bit of a think i reckon boro would be good, but was wondering if anyone on here has had a game as them and how far did they get or what way did they do things with them just looking some useful feedback for my own reference with my boro game!!

hi im a middlesbrough fan so when i first got this game (day it was released) i startd my season as boro and at first it wasnt the most amusing the players are under rated and the money isnt very good but once you get into the second season and all the offers start to come in for stewart downing from athletico madrid and other foreign teams of anything between 8 million and 25 milion i soold him for 18 million to barcelona and i found that there are some decent young good players who are willing to come to middlesbrough...
PLAYERS I HAVE IM IN MY 4TH SEASON
GK: oscar ustari (one of the best keepers in the game amazing shot stopper)
RB: justin hoyte (gets really good after the second season)
CB: tal ben haim (had to bring him in he was last day signing)
CB: johnny evans (turns out to be really good and hes young)
LB: gareth bale (really good quick player who is really good on set pieces)
RM: santiago cazorla (really quick and amazing crossing always recieving offers from arsenal for him)
CM: julio arca (good passer and decent set piece taker also hes a good tackler)
DM: brede hangelland (good tall tough tackler really good for when a team is counter attacking)
CM: dider digard (another good passer who has a decent long range shot and hes young)
LM: gabriel agbonlahor (had to convert him into been able to play on the wing amazing pace)
ST: oscar cardozo (amazing strength great target man with good finising and heading)
ST: tuncay sanli (good pace and strength and determination is really good o.k finishing

Well the issue with Boro is really they have a lot of similar players, and a lot of changes will hurt the start of the season, hence I only want to bring in 1 or 2 players who will be starters straight away, younger players I can bring in more as season goes on.
All the DC's are on the slow side. The LB+RB's arn't the best going forward but are solid defensively. At RM, none are wingers that everyone loves, O'Neil is more beckham-esk and others who can play out there are really AMC with no crossing ability. Aliadiere is rubbish but the only striker with pace.
My personal favourite way to go with Boro is to play defensively, hence spend the money at the back for instant upgrades whilst getting young players to develop the attack. Most of budget is spent on Ustari (GK) and Ignashevich (DC). After that its about selling players (riggot, Grounds, aliadiare, can't remember who else) and bringing in better youths/backups like Mattock (LB), Borges(MCa/AMC), Lewandowski (FW) and Santon (RM/RB) who are all cheap young upgrades over what you have.
Another way i've tried was to bring in a quick DC (cheaper and younger) instead of Ignashevich and spend the extra on a forward like Oscar Cardozo. Defensively not as strong as Ignashevich has huge mental stats to be strong all game whilst the cheaper option (can't remember name, will have to check later if you want it) is more a covering DC to complement Huth/Wheater when playing a high defensive line. But the big upgrade upfront with Downing and Santon on the wings scores more goals than the other method, also holds up the ball well so doesn't give it straight back.
Edit: I have no use for Emnes in my tactics. He can not play on the wings (pathetic crossing) and I don't use a AMC, there's much better attacking minded MC in the squad so I would sell him straight away but cos he's only just been bought its a problem. I usually stick him in reserves and then sell when I can later on.

in my first 2 seasons i loaned marvin emnes out back to holland where he had gained a lot of fist team football and he came back as a pure winger with good crossing good ball control and his fitness was really good so he could sprint for the full game and cause the opposition defenders a constant threat also if u are to keep aliadiere then at least use him on the wing or bring him on off the bench been a middlesbrough fan and attending all the games his season we have now realised that he isnt a striker he is indeed a winger

i tried borough once but the money isnt very good and the wage budget aswel. i say you give blackburn a try. i am managing them at the moment and it is really good. Your starting wage budget is 5m if you select top half finish as the expectation, they there are some players who you can sell like i sold David Dunn for 8.5 m to Wigan, Zurab Khizanishvili to Sunderland for 5.5 m and Jason Brown to Chelsea for 3.5 m.

The only FM game I have played is with Boro. I've done pretty well although still haven't managed to win the league
