Half Season Update (August – Dec)

We are taking the league by storm. 18 wins, 3 draws and only 2 loses from 23 league games. That was impressive. We are good defensively – only allowed 19 goals – the best defence currently in the league and excellent in attack – scoring 57 goals in 23 games (2.47 goals per games average).

View attachment 237561

The best game we have is against mighty Bristol City as we make a superb comeback from 2-nil down to beat them 4-2. Benik Afobe is man of the match after scoring 4 goals in second half.

Our 2 loses so far are both away games against Leyton Orient (0-1) and Notts Co (3-6). The game against Leyton Orient is a bad fortunate as we are playing without our main strikers (Afobe and Grigg) and our young striker, Rasulo failed to perform, missing several good chances in front of the goal. Game against Notts Co initially a good games, 3-3 at half time. Both team was playing interactive attacking games. However, in 57th minutes, Tom Flanagan make a last man foul, tackling Jack Cassidy in the box. He was sent off and Cassidy converted the penalty. From that moment, Notts Co take advantage with an extra man and scored 2 more goals.

The biggest win we had is against Bradford, 6-0 win. Benik Afobe scored half-time hattrick at 4th, 23th and 40th minutes, then injured himself on 50th minutes after land awkwardly on his left foot. Will Grigg, his replacement replicate what Afobe done, scored a hattrick at 57th, 74th and 89th minutes as we record our biggest win this season so far.

Cup Competition

In other competition, we are doing very well in Johnstone’s Paint trophy as we progressing to South final against Bristol City. We beat Oxford (2-0), Northampton ( 3-0), Swindon (2-1) and Coventry (2-1) to make it to South final.
While, we are knocked out both in FA Cup and Capital One cup in second round, beaten by Coventry (0-1) and Newcastle (2-3) respectively.

Team Update

Our team perform extremely well and im very happy with the attitude and togetherness we have in our squad right now.

Defence
David Martin playing his part as shot stopper, make several important save and rarely make mistake. Our main partnership in central defender, Kyle Mcfadzean and Jordan Spence was very good. While our wing backs, Lee Hodson and Luke Garbut perform well, strong defensively and make several good deliveries from wide area to our striker.

Midfielder
My midfielders play their part successfully in my triangle systems, Advance playmaker, Roaming playmaker and half back. Alli, Randal, Reeves and Carruther been used in AP and RP position, while Junior and Potter been used as half back.
While, Powell and Reach had an impressive season so far, assisting and scoring goals from wings.

Striker
Benik Afobe and Will Grigs compliment each other in my one striker system, scoring 16 and 12 gols respectively.

View attachment 237513 VS View attachment 237512

Lets take a look at both team and journey they made so far.

MK Dons

View attachment 237511

Favourite for winning this trophy. Make an excellent run towards final, however had a strong fight against Bristol City, take a 5-1 lead on first leg, then Bristol make a comeback on second leg, with same scoreline 5-1. Mk Dons go through after winning 4-2 in penalty shoot-out.
Key Player : Will Grigg, Daniel Powell, Delle Alli

Shrewsbury

View attachment 237510

Shrewsbury has an easy path, facing same level team, if not weaker. Beat Oldham, Walsall, Port Vale and Notts Co. They will aim to make history by winning this trophy for the first time.
Key Player : Moussa Dembele, Anthony Griffith

Kickoff

0’ - The referee's whistle blows to start the game and MK Dons will kick off the 2015 Johnstone’s Paint final

7’ – First chance of the day. Giggs received the ball from Junior, after a few passed from the back, pass the ball to Baker, Baker dribble pass Griffith and play the ball left to Alli feet. Alli got the shot in first time volley, on target, however Leutwiler make a great save to punch the ball out for corner.

20’View attachment 924060 IT’S A GOAL FOR SHREWSBURY. Mousa Dembele,on loan player from Newcastle receive a long ball from Griffith from left side, has a good first touch to bring the ball down and hit a powerful shot as David Martin unable to react in time. Shrewbury 1 – MK Dons 0. Mistake from Spence as he mistime the header to clear out the ball from Griffith.

26’View attachment 237506 From a poor start become a nightmare for MK Dons as McFadzean was sent off for a professional fool. Dembele has the ball at half-way line, pass back to Jordan Clerk. Clerk make a nice through pass for Lameiras to run into, and McFadzean make a bad decision to slid in hard on Lameiras. Its an obvious last man foul and MK Dons is 1-nil down and one man down. It seem MK Dons make a change in formation as they drop Junior back to central defender and play with 4-4-1.

30’ – Baker play one-two with Randal, make a pass to Alli. Alli receive the ball and make a run forward and fed the ball forward to Baker again. Woods could’nt cut out the pass and Baker find Daiel Powell with pass to the left. Powell receive the ball with his left foot and hit a speculative long-range shot and Leutwiller managed to turn it behind. WHAT A GREAT CHANCE FOR MK DONS as they try to get back into the game.

44’ – Leutwiler save it against for Shrewbury. Baker, who was playing very well today going pass Lameiras with ease, fed the ball to Spence in the right wing and Spence send a good cross to the box. Leutwiler did well to turn the ball round the post as Will Griggs hanging at back post ready to tap the ball in.

45’ – Its halftime.

46’ – Shrewbury made a half time change, indtroducing Collins in place of Griffith. No change for MK Dons and Hernandez still believe with his 10 players in the pitch to turn this tie around.

49’ – A good start in second half for MK Dons. Grigg with a placed shot that hit the post and went out. Baker and Powell once again play their part in the build up.

67’ – Alli open up the play to right wing, Baker play a cross and Burgass head it out for corner. Carl Baker ran up to try and outswinging ball from the corner. Alli who sat outside the box make a run and took the ball on the bounce and shot. Lameiras hacked off the line! That’s the nearest MK Dons has to the goal today. What a relieve for Shrewbury.

70’ View attachment 924060 GOAL !!!!!! And its Mark Randall with a fabulous strike from outside of the box. Powell use his pace on left wing, dribble pass Conor Goldson and make a pass to Will Grigg. Grigg hold up the ball inside the box as Dominic Smith try to halt Grigg from making a shot. Grigg saw Randal and make a back pass and Randal, score with a long range volley from 25 yards as MK Dons equalize with 10 men.

77’View attachment 237506 MK Dons down to 9 men and this time Junior, who took the place of McFadzean in central defender hacked down Dembele with two feet. A straight red card! Now MK Dons play with 3 defender as Spence and Luke Garbutt was push centrally from wing back.

84’ – Ruben Lameiras centered the ball from right wing, Danny Wilson closed in and intercepted the ball, but he headed clear only as far as Woods, who made a shot. However David Martin in right position to make a save and hold ont the ball.

90’ – The fourth official indicated 3 minutes of time added on.

90+3’ – End of 90 minutes

91’ – MK Don got the action underway in extra time at Wembley

101’ – It looked a certain goal. Baker play the ball forward, as Garbutt make a run from left wing. It’s a one on one situation and Garbutt look to set to apply the finish past Leutwiller, but Garbutt put it wide. He really should have hit the back of the net.

106’ – Half time in extra time

108’- View attachment 924060It’s a GOAL FOR MK DONS !!! AN OWN GOAL. Grigg who receive ball from Powell cross, attempt a half volley from a tight angle and hit the post. The ball bounce out to wards Jasyson Leutwiler, who has a great game till now, and he unable to gather the ball cleanly as the ball roll in towards the net. MK Dons 2 – Shrewbury 1. What an unfortunate moment for Shrewbury as MK Dons with 9 men take a lead.

120’ – The fourth official indicated there would be one minute of added time. Leutwier went up to join the Shrewsbury attack as they have a corner. Jordan Clark swing the ball in and Alli make s trong header to clear up the ball.

120+2’ – MK DONS WON THE JOHNSTONE’S PAINT TROPHY WITH 9 MEN. What a game that turned out to be. Its second time for MK Dons after winning it on 2008 season.
